The legend 🥲 I'm sad, but the man was 98 years old, lived an incredible life. Glad he got to enjoy some retirement in the past decade. I saw him when I was in college at the Chicago JazzFest in 1998, he was a spry almost 72 at the time.
We at TNYCJR regret to pass along the sad news of legendary alto saxophonist Lou Donaldson passing away, after having just turned 98 just over a week ago (b. 11/1/1926- d. 11/10/2024). Thanks for the many decades of unapologetic, first-class bebop, not to mention onstage humor.
