Impeachment is not “cancel culture.” If a President uses hateful rhetoric and perpetuates extremely harmful lies, thereby inciting violence on the nation’s Capitol, the nation must admonish, correct and prevent that behavior from happening again.
Do you know why we don't wait for a murder attempt to succeed before prosecuting it? Because if the murder succeeds, the victim is dead. Do you know why we don't wait for a coup attempt to succeed before punishing it? Because if the coup succeeds, the country is dead.

Trump tried to steal a fair election, Navalny wants to have one. Trump was impeached for inciting violence, Navalny was poisoned and arrested by a dictatorship. The only thing they have in common is that they both deserve justice.
Establishment politicians should think long and hard before turning President Trump into the American equivalent of Alexei Navalny. Navalny is Putin’s major opponent-jailed, harassed, imprisoned, poisoned. Turning President Trump into a martyr will deepen political conflict.
