As common sense consumer protection advocates look ahead to the next few bleak years at the FTC, keep in mind that every state has a consumer protection statute that protects against "deceptive" business practices

The FTC is forcing H&R Block to stop their deceptive promises of ‘free’ filing and other unfair practices. An @FTC action will now require the company to stop making it harder for people to downgrade to a cheaper service, and will also make H&R Block pay $7 million in fines.

This is the man who will be leading America's top health agency.

RFK Jr. says he wants to "make America healthy again." So he's doing that by buddying up with the man who cut environmental protections, gutted food safety laws, and rolled back regulations on dangerous chemicals? Do I have this right?

In the next two months, Senate Democrats can... -Fill 47 judicial vacancies -Ensure a Dem majority on the NLRB -Appoint key regulators to the SEC and FDIC to protect the American people from financial fraud -Reappoint FTC Chair Lina Khan Democrats need to act. Now.

🚨BREAKING: Two weeks after @LeverNews huge story, Dems finally confirmed the government's top ethics enforcement official today. The Lever spotlighted for the first time how Republicans were trying to keep the spot open so Trump could appoint a crony: levernews.com/senate-gops-sc…

The Senate will continue confirming @POTUS's highly qualified nominees. Today: —We confirmed Cathy Fung as Judge of the US Tax Court —We confirmed David Huitema for Director of the Office for Government Ethics —We’ll advance Embry Kidd’s judicial nomination to the 11th circuit

From me: The Trump administration will back off aggressive corporate enforcement. But state attorneys general can take on antitrust cases, and an initial salvo this week seeks to stop UnitedHealth from monopolizing home-health services. prospect.org/economy/2024-1…

Many of us are fearful about the future of America. Text JUDGES to 63033 to tell Senate Democrats that they must act now and use the power they have to confirm federal judges for dozens of remaining vacancies before Trump has the chance to fill them with judges who will…

The Senate's Democratic majority began a crusade to confirm as many new federal judges nominated by President Biden as possible to avoid leaving vacancies that Donald Trump could fill after taking office on Jan. 20. Subscribe to The Daily Docket: reut.rs/4dsT

The most powerful levers of control in the government are found in six positions where intelligence-gathering and brute force overlap. As we move closer to Trump taking office, keep your eyes on these positions and the people who fill them. bit.ly/3ObN3l8

I'm old enough to remember when polio ripped through the globe and put my six-year-old friends into iron lungs. We dutifully lined up at school to get vaccinated. We eradicated the disease. We protected the common good. RFK Jr being tapped to lead HHS is a disgrace.

The lesson of this election is that Democrats must attack inequality – and not cede working-class voters to Trump. The Democrats must become an anti-establishment party. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

When I say the system is rigged for the rich, this is what I mean.

This is what oligarchy looks like.

RFK Jr has been spreading dangerous, delusional, and bigoted conspiracy theories and lies for years. He shouldn't be let anywhere near HHS. Want to know more about him? Watch this video I made during his run for president.

Putting RFK Jr. in charge of America’s health is beyond reckless — it’s deadly. His conspiratorial pseudoscience would dismantle decades of public health progress and put lives at risk. politico.com/news/2024/11/1…

Roughly 800 billionaires hold more wealth than half of American households. If that doesn’t tell you we’re in a second Gilded Age, I don’t know what will. It can be easy to feel discouraged, but the first Gilded Age teaches us lessons on how we can fight back. Let me explain.

All of President-elect Trump's picks so far, according to the Heritage Foundation (which wrote Project 2025) director Kevin Roberts, are friends of his organization. If the Senate confirms these nominees, Project 2025 will be here. nytimes.com/2024/11/13/us/…

So you’re telling me the reason Chuck Schumer doesn’t want to confirm Biden’s nominee to the NLRB and stave off an anti-union Republican majority on the board until 2026 is . . . that Trump might—might—respond by firing the whole Board and appointing a Republican majority anyway?…

Senate D's have a chance to lock in a Dem majority at the NLRB deep into 2026 by re-confirming Lauren McFerran before Jan 3. The fear is that will goad Trump into firing McFerran et al to get their GOP board, prompting a much more perilous legal fight. huffpost.com/entry/senate-d…

Our economy is far larger than it was decades ago. Where have most of the gains gone? To the top. Any path forward must include a fight to restructure the economy toward more widely shared prosperity. This isn’t a blue state vs. red state phenomenon. It’s a class phenomenon.

Trump's nomination of Gaetz will be the clearest signal yet of whether GOP senators are ready to do his bidding on all sorts of issues. If Trump can get 51 votes for Gaetz, he can get a Senate majority for just about anything — like cutting back Social Security. Be warned.

Trump is saying the election gave him a “very big mandate.” Rubbish. Here's why he's wrong. bit.ly/3US6e7z
