HSC classes are teaching themselves because of @Dom_Perrottet teacher shortages #VoteThemOut

Chatting to a colleague on the weekend. They have had THREE HSIE teachers leave since the start of 2022. It's only just the start of March! I'm so worried about where we are at as a profession. What are schools doing - successfully - to avoid teacher #burnout at the moment?

Best wishes to all the school staff (most likely principals, DPs, APs and HTs) who are launching into recruitment mode ernestly again right now holding their breath searching for unicorns.

Latest Australian Covid policies explained: Q. Need a test? A. No you don't, silly! Q. Exposed to Covid? A. No you weren't, go to work! Q. Got Covid and can't work? A. That's your fault, no money for you!

For Perrottet to position what is happening in Sydney as a success is morally reprehensible

We’re now in science-free political management of the pandemic. No science behind individual responsibility. NSW COVID cases grow, Victoria COVID cases grow, Qld COVID cases grow, ACT COVID cases grow, Doherty modelling sparks warning. smh.com.au/national/austr…

What’s happening in NSW is criminal, people turned away from testing sites, #Omicron spreading, hospitalisations rising, deaths - all could have been avoided or controlled if we had a leader who cared about us. Instead we have Perrottet Another miserable #LiberalNotALeader

No QR code’s, no masks, no contact tracing - for those of us unlucky enough to be in NSW this could be a full blown Covid disaster. Christmas, January and beyond may provide numerical proof of this idiocy. The 2 God lovers demand we take personal responsibility. DYFJ! Protect us.

Leaders who fail to listen ultimately find themselves surrounded by silence. You don't get chosen to take charge unless you give good answers. You won't be able to make change unless you ask good questions. Learning depends on making it safe for people to tell you the truth.

How anyone can say “schools are safe” is beyond comprehension. Poorly ventilated rooms Delta variant spreads via children/young people to unvaxed adults Many unvaccinated teachers & school staff No masks 😷 Sure, closing schools is inconvenient but they are not “safe” #COVID19
