NEW: Top NC legislators earmarked $2.3 billion to private organizations without public discussion. People on both sides of the aisle are calling out the pork barrel, will candidates for State Auditor do anything about it? #ncpol #ncga 🧵1/4 theassemblync.com/politics/north…

With Durham & Pasquotank in, NC Supreme Court Justice Allison Riggs leads by 106 votes after 5,538,460 votes cast. This is a difference 0.0019%. Five outstanding counties yet to report provisionals: Brunswick, Craven, Forsyth, Halifax and Sampson. theog.io/goto?url=https…

This was the state senate race with the thinnest margin before canvassing, if votes hold (there will almost certainly be a recount and challenges) Republicans will still retain a supermajority in the state senate 30-20 #ncpol

JUST IN: Rep. Terence Everitt has netted 139 votes in Wake County, giving him a 134-vote lead over Republican Ashlee Bryan Adams in #SD18.

We just brought a landmark civil rights case on how courts try to keep the public out of family separation proceedings. Much more soon.

"A Washington, DC-based civil rights organization is taking Durham officials to court—for keeping them out of court." Read more in this new article by @LenaRoseGeller in the @indyweek: bit.ly/3UPKkBN

Entering today, you'd rather be Republicans. Folks I've spoken with have felt Riggs could lose by 1,500 votes, which a recount wouldn't overturn. But provisional acceptance rates in Buncombe, Guilford, Wake, and Cumberland will make or break this. We shall soon see what happens.

Is the GOP still favored in the Supreme Court race @BryanRAnderson ?

Spoke with Gov. Cooper about this earlier today. NC lawmakers plan to override his veto on a voucher expansion bill next week. Cooper said they should let the veto stand and spend those dollars on Helene recovery instead. I asked NCGA leadership to respond; they did not. #ncpol

Western NC legislators should demand immediate state funding for Helene recovery - including small business and local gov grants - instead of billions of dollars for private school vouchers for the wealthy that hurt rural public schools and fund mostly urban counties. - RC

NEW: Big update from the State Supreme Court race - where Dem. Allison Riggs is railing Rep. Jefferson Griffin by roughly 10K votes. Meck. County just finished mail ballots today. Riggs's lead from the county grew by 1,788 votes. That takes a big chunk from Griffin's lead.
