It’s official, I can now call myself an Occupational therapist. Proud of the progression starting 4 years ago at @NottsHealthcare from support worker to apprentice to now qualified OT @The_HCPC 💚✨

It’s not just doctors… physiotherapists have had therapy space taken away, left with alternatives that are not fit for purpose. Overstretched inpatient therapy services can’t provide the quality rehabilitation we want to, and are trained to deliver, due to a lack of resources.

UK doctors suffer ‘moral distress’ due to overstretched NHS, study finds Moral distress” is inability to ensure a patient gets the speed, quality or type of care that their skills, training and judgment tell them the sick person needs 78% of GPs theguardian.com/society/2023/d…

A significant proportion of disabled students are being told by university staff that their access needs are a nuisance or unreasonable, or even that they are trying to cheat the system by asking for adjustments, according to a groundbreaking survey. buff.ly/3sWcWP4

Organisations can sometimes lose their soul. The signs? - Looking good matters more than being good - Leaders think they have all the answers - Sceptics are marginalised. - A fake narrative that nobody believes is all that’s allowed. - Leaders become arrogant & never apologise.

Remember the stress you had as a student when there was a delay in finding out where you were going on placement or didn’t get the placement you wanted? That is because not enough people offer to take students. You can the one who makes a difference now.

Dear Clinical Colleagues, Students are not a burden, they are a joy. They are a valuable asset to a team & are the future The reason you were able to graduate and become the professional you are is because someone took the time to invest in you. PAY. IT. FORWARD.

Any OTs/AHPs had experience working within staff/student wellbeing services at universities ? Would love to hear feedback on pros/ challenges

Do we have to keep calling our complex work “hacks”? It feels like a poor attempt to seem appealing or novel but OT’s don’t merely offer people tips and life “hacks”. Wasn’t this a big topic of discussion when the Lift Up Your Everyday campaign first arose?

Calling all OTs! We all know how important sleep is, for our mental and physical wellbeing, so we want to hear your tips for a good night's sleep? 😴 We may use your tips for our up-coming #OTHacks campaign all about sleeping well.
