An elderly patient called me over. โ€œI know Iโ€™m in hospital, but Iโ€™m bored and COLD! No one talks to me.โ€ After getting a blanket and coffee, we had a chat. Wards are busy, but our patients get lonely too. She seemed so much happier after. Small interactions have a big impact ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

Officially one month as an OT in mental health ๐Ÿ’š

And just like that, Iโ€™ve finished my first week on an acute inpatient mental health ward. So happy that years of hard work has led me to my dream job ๐Ÿ’š

I am actively seeking a mental health career in Plymouth, Devon. I have completed an occupational therapy degree and will be staying in Devon long term. If anyone can signpost me in the right direction, please get in touch. Thank you! @DPT_Jobs @livewellsw @theRCOT @StudentOTs

Absolutely over the moon to get 93 in my final placement! 12 weeks of complete focus and worth every second. Found a love for service development and consolidated skills in mental health which I can use across my career. Very lucky - very tired ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

For the last 8 weeks, my life has been placement, eat, sleep, repeat! A day at the beach has done me the world of good ๐Ÿ˜„

For students and qualified occupational therapists, I am creating an induction pack for new staff working in inpatient mental health services. On reflection, If you were either newly qualified or new to mental health, what information would you have found helpful to know?

One downside of moving away from home seven years ago, is seeing less of my grandma who Iโ€™m very close to. With my final year, role-emerging placement based in my hometown, I have 12 weeks of seeing her every day and I feel so grateful :) My bestie, Esty โค๏ธ

If there are any mental health occupational therapists who would be willing to discuss their role or share their knowledge with me over the next few months, Iโ€™d love to hear from you! #mentalhealth #occupationaltherapy @StudentOTs

Academia has never come naturally to me, but finding a subject I am truly passionate about has been one of the highlights of my life. Little gems of recognition like this assure me that Iโ€™m on the right path ๐Ÿฆ‹ Pat on the back to myself and the cohort, here comes final year!

Today we held our first relaxed graduation experience to support students with learning difficulties, autism, social anxiety, sensory processing difficulties or who may find attending a traditional graduation overwhelming. Huge thanks to everyone who has made this a success.
