After the RFK Jr nomination to head HHS I felt compelled to repost this Pulitzer Prize winning cartoon from 1957. The artist is my great uncle Tom Little and this drawing convinced millions of parents in 1957 and for years after to get their children the Salk Polio vaccine. Now…

RFK Jr.’s nomination as HHS Secretary is a dangerous blow to public health. Sound science and public trust are the bedrock of protecting communities, especially Black ones, who already face systemic inequities, like racism. THREAD. nbcnews.com/health/health-…

I'm old enough to remember when polio ripped through the globe and put my six-year-old friends into iron lungs. We dutifully lined up at school to get vaccinated. We eradicated the disease. We protected the common good. RFK Jr being tapped to lead HHS is a disgrace.

What a shame, JAMA missed an opportunity to dispel stigma, instead pathologizing use of healthcare services 😔 Patient Information: Borderline Personality Disorder ja.ma/3mqLN34 via @JAMA_current part of @JAMANetwork @medtwitter

Proud to work at @uclahealth! The other day I was standing in line in the cafeteria for lunch and the guy in front of me asks me what I do, I tell him I’m a psychiatrist, he then says “You guys are all doing amazing work here!” #mademyday

For the record, I would want to know if the Board put a doctor I see on probation for any offense whatsoever. Is the idea in hiding that that patients would be scared away from seeing a doctor who didn’t do something “that bad”? Anything that warrants probation is that bad.

The California Medical Board has long battled allegations that it goes easy on negligent doctors. But The Times found that several of the most frequently disciplined doctors have been given probations that are shorter than the guidelines recommend. latimes.com/california/sto…

Once a year, Psychology Today does not have a picture of a white woman on the cover of their magazine. This year it’s the August issue. There is no emoji for the mix of emotions this causes #RepresentationMatters

The rule is now simple: get vaccinated or wear a mask until you do. The choice is yours.

Pretty sure that having a child sign discharge papers from a psychiatric hospital instead of the parent is not okay, even during COVID. Am I way off base here?
