The world must not turn away from what's happening in #Sudan - a catastrophe. Over 2 million people ripped from their homes & now in search of safety. At today's High-Level Pledging event, we will call for much more funding to support them - the needs are profound & urgent.

From Cairo, following his meeting with Sudanese refugees, who fled the conflict to #Egypt, UNHCR HC @FilippoGrandi strongly appeals to the international community not to forget them & countries hosting them.

At the Egyptian border post in Qustul, the main entry point for refugees from Sudan, I appealed to Egypt to keep the door open to those fleeing — and to international donors to urgently support ongoing relief efforts by the authorities, local communities and aid agencies.

Sudanese refugees shared some harrowing stories today in #Cairo with the @Refugees High Commissioner @FilippoGrandi As the largest host of arrivals from #Sudan, #Egypt has received around 160K including more than 153K Sudanese.

The generals fighting each other in Sudan should listen to the tragic stories I heard today from Sudanese refugees fleeing horrific violence. If the generals truly cared for their people they would stop fighting now. Aid organizations can help but the solution is in their hands.
