On my way to Mekelle, 460km from Semera after a fruitful monitoring field visit to Aysaita refugee camp. Had lunch at DANKALIYA restaurant operated by a refugee association. Economic empowerment, water, education & health are top priorities for both refugees & IDPs. 👌

Congratulations to the team involved in the IASC Independent review of the humanitarian response to IDPs. Working with Governments, listening to IDPs, a UN timely joined-up response with protection at the center and solutions as our end goal are much welcomed recommendations.

A welcome visit and a necessity amidst a crises that has continued for several months. Millions continue to suffer inside and outside Sudan! @mamadou_dbalde @FilippoGrandi

I arrived in #Sudan today to highlight the plight of Sudanese civilians (millions of whom are displaced), and of the refugees they still host, all caught in a brutal, worsening war which most of the world seems to ignore. The people of Sudan need our support and solidarity.

Thanks to friendly neighboring countries! More will continue to cross borders seeking protection and humanitarian assistance! Past 4 days, many towns in the Darfurs continue to witness unprecedented violence affecting thousands of civilians! A must stop to this harsh war!

At the same time, the United Nations is exploring how to support host families and communities, and Sudanese front-line health and social service providers and structures.

DSRSG/RC/HC @CNkwetaSalami met today with H.E. MoFA Minister Ali Alsadig to discuss the situation in Sudan and UN’s ongoing aid operation. She stressed the importance of addressing administrative impediments, to urgently scale up aid and personnel to #Sudan.

After 100 days of conflict, and at the onset of heavy rains, the UN, Government of Sudan and International NGOs are jointly mounting efforts to scale up humanitarian assistance for over 3 million people displaced by the #SudanConflict, majority being women and children.
