Is today the day Australia finally kicked our coal addiction? It might be! HUGE news this morning, with @Bowenchris announcing a huge scale-up of the CIS to supercharge solar, wind & battery projects to replace our aging and unreliable coal theguardian.com/australia-news…

An Australian First. A big step forward for reducing emissions from Australian industry in Wodonga. Today the PM, Helen Haines and I turned the first sod on the construction of Australia’s first “concentrated solar thermal” plant at the Mars Pet Food Factory in Wodonga. This…

Nuclear debate is a distraction & delay tactic. Fact our coal stations have reached end of life. replacement generation is needed asap & the tech available & cost effective now is renewables. Delays is what is driving bills to go up!! Not renewables!!! nexaadvisory.com.au/consumer-cost-…

🤓 some australian politicians would have you believe that #nuclear is growing quickly all around the world. actually, outside china (where it's growing, but at a fraction the rate of renewables), total nuclear generation has been on the decline since 2006 — down 16% from peak.

"Arguably the most significant fact about recent weeks is the way that Dutton is lowering the bar for debate, one way at a time." - @mrseankelly challenges the Australian media to better. I do hope they can, so much is at stake. #auspol #climate #democracy

If the media, so fond of deploring soundbite politics, wants something substantial to cover, then it needs to learn that objectivity does not mean treating soundbites as substance just because one side claims that to be the case. This week's column smh.com.au/politics/feder…

Australians love rooftop solar! #Auspoll @WAtoday #SolarforALL Voters strongly prefer renewables to all other forms of energy: 73% are in favour of renewables in general. Stick to the plan and let's get on with the energy transition to keep energy affordable.

stacks up.

“Our nuclear reactors will produce 350 sponges of gigglewats every leap year; we’ll store toxic waste in a coke can in Peter’s office. We’ll build small Lego reactors at a cost of $49.95 and they’ll last six millennium. Trust me, I’m an expert.” #insiders

western australia is in the grip of @WoodsideEnergy the gas company funds the arts, sports, media and politics. complete state capture — and it's the reason our federal gov't has a focus on gas "to 2050 and beyond".

Oil & gas giant @WoodsideEnergy buys the first 4 pages of @westaustralian to claim their massive new fossil fuel project is ‘Good for WA’ What a desperate, pathetic attempt to fool the public. Woodside are choosing profits over a safe climate for our kids. They must be stopped!
