Former Prime Minister of Norway and current NATO chief @jensstoltenberg in 2014 explaining how Norway took control of their oil and gas industry and starting taxing them at 78% of profits building the $1.7 trillion Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund.
The first turbines are spinning at the largest windfarm in the southern hemisphere, with the Golden Plains Wind Farm near Geelong now delivering cleaner, cheaper, reliable renewable energy to the grid, and massive benefits to the many farmers who are excited to host it.
All Countries will Experience an Development like 🇳🇴 Norway Some sooner, some later, but it will happen everywhere, not for ideological reasons, but because of economic efficiency, geopolitical dependencies, and its simply a better drive experience.
Every time someone chooses cycling over driving one kilometer society is €1,35 richer. Through safer streets, cleaner air, lighter traffic, higher productivity, and cheaper medical and maintenance bills. Shouldn’t governments do everything in their power to enable that choice?
“While Mayor, I was often asked ‘how have you been able to afford this in #Copenhagen?’ I’d reply, ‘how have you been able to NOT afford it? 25 years ago we were a few days away from going bankrupt. So the city invested in the cheapest infrastructure… bicycling.” — @mortenkabell
Transportation in cities is about moving PEOPLE, not about moving cars. Think about how many people are moving easily in this @schlijper video of Amsterdam. The more people moving without a car in cities, the better it is for EVERYONE, including drivers.
Please folks, if you still have a gasoline vehicle in 2024 park it OUTSIDE. They spontaneously ignite and it's not worth the risk. 💔
He chipped it into the rough and hoped no one saw. His Secret Service team were nearby but with their backs to him and maybe they hadn’t noticed, but he couldn’t take that chance. These days you couldn’t do anything without someone taking a picture of you with a smart phone. 1/11
I’ve just ridden my eBike 4750 km across Australia to promote renewable energy. The most important thing I did was have conversations with everyday Australians. They all want the same thing. An end to political mischief and real climate action. #eBike4Australia
Lots of support and encouragement from fellow cyclists this morning including from Balance Triathlon. Less than 50km to Bondi now. I got this! #eBike4Australia
The Royal National Park south of Sydney is an example of what much of coastal southeastern Australia was like before colonisation and deforestation. It’s a reminder of why we must protect what’s left and end logging and land clearing. #eBike4Australia
A quiet Friday afternoon rush hour.
I’ve just made it 4,900km across Australia from the Indian Ocean to the Pacific Ocean in five weeks. 100km tomorrow to Bondi and then I’m done. From Whadjuk Nyoongar country to D’harawal country. #eBike4Australia 🚴🏽♂️🚴🏽♂️🚴🏽♂️💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Today I’m announcing I will run as an Independent in the upcoming Pittwater by-election. The people of Pittwater deserve better.
Peter in the Murraylands says: “wind farms might be a blight on the horizon but without them we’re stuffed!” and “Dutton’s ridiculous ploy over nuclear is just to extend the coal industry”. #eBike4Auatralia
Whenever you cycle in Amsterdam, you are riding on the shoulders of giants… Tens of thousands of citizens who, decades ago, took to the streets to fight back against the rampant rise of the car in their community. Without this defiant act, their city would look like any other.
Schrödinger's road space. Or: How taking away road space for cars is actually good news for those who need to drive. (by @urbanthoughts11)
I’ve cycled over 1500 km across South Australia and haven’t seen a single windfarm on so-called ‘prime agricultural land’. That’s just another lie spread by the fossil fuel industry and mischievous politicians to keep their pockets full and stay in power. #eBike4Australia
The resignation of Pittwater's Liberal MP is confronting news that’s left many of us in shock. To those asking whether I will run as an Independent again – I’m considering it, and am taking time now to hear what leadership and representation the people of Pittwater want next.
Tell me this isn’t the best “traffic” you’ve ever seen. A school “bike bus” started off each Friday in Barcelona a few years back, and got big from an initial 5 kids. Safety in numbers — do you think you could do this in YOUR city? #BikeBus Via @lljunca
