Let’s talk about mixture of experts You know where it’s actually useful? Making an LLM multilingual. Catostriphic forgetting makes it so that you forget English, when you start teaching a model another language. That’s not an issue when you have an expert in each language.

Painfully obvious when I was visiting India and Dubai last month. Kids are everywhere from Michelin star restaurants to bank offices. They are just a part of life not something to have your whole life revolve around

If you have children you probably already understand how anti-child the modern world is. If you don’t have children & you’re wondering why birth rates are dropping - it’s because every aspect of the Western world is increasingly catered to selfish adults at the expense of kids.

Biggest load of 💩 about India’s payment systems now being seamless. Have you tried booking a train ticket? I tried 5 different times with 5 different local/international debit/credit cards. Nothing works.

Zuck got roasted today, but I think a lot of people miss the point: Facebook actually does studies on the impacts of their products, so that they can address those problems. When I was building apps there, I had access to PhD researchers to fully understand the impacts of my…

This whole gambit of Faang vs chasing your dreams is total bs. There are many parts of FAANG where you can have incredible impact. Building products that billions of people use? ✅ Working on technology at the bleeding edge? ✅ Find the right team and you can have both + $$

FAANG is the ultimate faustian bargain - give up your dreams, your hopes, your youth - in exchange for like 10 mil. 10m is a lot of money. Most people never see that money. But you have to give up a decade of your life. That decade, the energy you had, won’t come back.

The most amazing thing about this isn’t just that GPT-4 likely has 1.8T params (16 116B MoE models), but that code-LLaMa at 34B with 1/50th the size is almost as good at coding. magazine.sebastianraschka.com/p/ahead-of-ai-…
