Thanks @SOBP for an amazing conference and the opportunity to meet and connect with brilliant scientists! 🧠
Excited to share my latest work studying if specific features of major life stressors and resting-state functional connectivity at baseline differentially predict anxiety and depression symptoms in a longitudinal sample of adolescents enriched for anxiety and depressive disorders
Shared and unique lifetime stressor characteristics and brain networks predict adolescent anxiety and depression biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh… #biorxiv_neursci
Happy to share our new work showing widespread lower structural 🧠 connectivity in people w/ first-episode psychosis (pre-antipsychotics). Alterations affect all large-scale systems and can predict changes in functional outcomes up to 1 year after 🔮 🧲doi.org/10.1016/j.biop…
Thrilled to be a recipient of the @NUSingapore Development Grant to support me in the next chapter of my academic journey! Immensely honored and grateful for the recognition!
More massive news, Rowena Chin @ChinERowena has won a NUS Postdoctoral Research award 🥇🎉🎉 Dr Chin is officially a Young NUS Fellow. We’re so proud of you, Rowena! 🎓
Looking for a little reading on your way home from #ohbm2024? Our (@JegTiego @LindenParkes @AvramHolmes @amarquand @AFornito) latest preprint argues that embracing variability is essential to uncover the biological mechanisms of psychiatric illness 🧵/1 osf.io/preprints/osf/…
@HolmesLab_BHI is thrilled to announce the long-awaited Transdiagnostic Connectome Project, TCP 🎉🚨🧠 Data on OpenNeuro (BIDS MRI, behavior) & preprinted on medRxiv! A true “team work makes the dream work” effort, huge thanks to co-1st authors @SidChop @ConnorLawhead, as well…
Congrats to our amazing Holmes Lab members and alum who shared their posters at SOBP 2024! @ChinRowena @RicardJocelyn @carrisa_cocuzza @ambrains_ @peterakirk !! 🎉🎉
Hey @SOBP #SOBP2024! Come to poster 229 tonight 6pm CDT to chat about how altered brain network dynamics robustly predict dimensional phenotypes exhibited across healthy & psychiatric populations, w/ a spotlight on affective & psychotic illness 🧠🍻⚕️ @HolmesLab_BHI
That amazing paper you spent years on? That amazing breakthrough you had? Very likely you built this following the work of others (very few exceptions), just as others will build off yours. Science is a continuum. Want to leave a lasting legacy in science? Be generous & be kind.
I've written about race, genetic ancestry, analyses of large biobanks, and human history gusevlab.org/projects/hsq/#… I'll summarize the key points here 🧵:
New study by @wysscoray and team finds brain-wide gene signatures of aging in glial cells. The research, partly supported by our AHA-Allen initiative, also found that glial cell aging is accelerated in white matter and not all regions are equally impacted. cell.com/cell/fulltext/…
Our latest global effort (led by twitterles Varun Warrier from @psychiatry_ucam and @CambPsych ) to map the genetic architecture of the human 🧠 is now live! Massive thank you to all co-authors!! nature.com/articles/s4158…
It's finally out in @NatureNeuro! A special thanks to @AFornito and @amarquand for their perseverance in getting this out. nature.com/articles/s4159… @NSB_Lab @turnerinstitute
Our latest PP: tinyurl.com/2p9yr3u8. Amazing work by @AshleaSegal in close collab with @amarquand and many others, using a multi scale approach to understand individual differences of brain deviations in 6 psychiatric disorders. Peep the thread...
Stoked to kickstart #OHBM2023 @OHBM with the Lifespan Network Neuroscience Symposium and to hear from the amazing lineup of scientists today!
Latest work from @HolmesLab_BHI member @XihanZhang1 reveals an association between functional brain organization, assessed through fMRI, and the cellular composition of the cortical sheet (imputed from post-mortem tissue). Chat with her @OHBM in Montreal to learn more!
Excited to share our latest work revealing that the functional organization of human cortex is reflected in the spatial variability of its cellular composition. w/@AvramHolmes @KevinMAnder Hao-Ming Dong @SidChop @elvisha9 Prashant Emani @DanielMargulies! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Our latest –– "Geometric constraints on human brain function" –– led by @jchrispang & @Kevin_M_Aquino w/ @bendfulcher @DrBreaky P Robinson and @M_Oldehinkel now out in @Nature Detailed thread on preprint below. Huge congrats to a wonderful team! @NSB_Lab @turnerinstitute
Interested in how brain structure constrains function? Check our latest PP - a tour de force from @jchrispang, @Kevin_M_Aquino & team, incl. @DrBreaky @bendfulcher @M_Oldehinkel & P Robinson. V excited about this work; peep the thread...
New @holmeslabyale preprint. @laurant_lydia examines the shared and unique brain-based predictive features of internalizing and externalizing across children and adults. w/@bttyeo, @elvisha9, @carrisa_cocuzza, @ConnorLawhead, and many others
(1/n) I'm thrilled to share results of my first project as a grad student!! We examined if functional network predictors are more similar within vs between categories of internalizing and externalizing behavior in children and adults @AvramHolmes @bttyeo biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Wow... 80% of genes are differentially expressed in living versus post-mortem prefrontal cortex tissue. Importantly implications for studying the 'living' biology of the human brain, rather than heavy reliance on what post-mortem tissue shows us. medrxiv.org/content/10.110…

𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝘅: high time to move beyond the cortex-subcortex dichotomy and work out how circuits spanning all parts of the nervous system work jointly in complex ways.
