A short thread on what Labour have just done to bus commuters, and not done to car commuters. Right now a mile in an average car costs 16p in petrol. The average distance to work in the UK is less than 5 miles but that includes people who live close enough to walk… 1/7

A good mix of face to face meetings at City Hall and getting out of the office this week! The @SaveBGstreets campaigners would love you to sign their Save our Safer Streets petition and having visited I can see why: go.saveoursaferstreets.org/petition-x

Tower Hamlets is removing these beautiful, safety-enhancing public improvements in Bethnal Green at a cost of millions, despite residents saying no twice. Sign our petition to stop this waste and keep our streets safe: go.saveoursaferstreets.org/petition-x

Exactly! The LTNs around the Jesus Green area have substantially improved the public realm. Please sign the petition so our neighbourhood reflects the liveable streets that a clear majority of us wants and that serves our needs as residents.

We're backing out friends at @SaveBGstreets in calling on the @MayorofLondon to prevent Tower Hamlets Council from removing the Low Traffic Neighbourhoods in Bethnal Green and Shoreditch. Please sign the petition: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/prot…

Amazing figures out today: members of the public are now making 150,000 reports of dangerous & illegal driving per year, using dashcams, helmet cams & mobile phones. 90% of reports are leading to action against drivers. 1/5

This is great news! One day we'll get good news about streets in actual Tower Hamlets, but until then, let's celebrate improvements nearby! standard.co.uk/news/transport…

Tower Hamlets aren't listening to the majority of residents who want to keep our safer streets so it's time for @MayorofLondon to step in. Sign our petition today to let him know we want him to do more.

🚨 @TowerHamletsNow wants to remove our safer streets. But we can stop them! 💪 Sign our petition calling on the @MayorofLondon to protect our: 🌳 Pocket parks 🚲 Cycle lanes 🌿 Greener spaces 🚸 Safer school routes Sign here: go.saveoursaferstreets.org/petition-x #SavrOurSaferStreets

Soho needs to be completely pedestrianised. During the pandemic, the bars and restaurants were absolutely thriving with everybody out on the streets. And nobody wants to hear cars constantly honking and almost running down gays in the road.

I love guerilla urbanism. Go make your community better in small ways on your own and see what happens

TFL took away the bus stop countdown sign. So we installed our own.

Long, long gone are the days when Skew Bridge next to Victoria Park was safe to cycle across. There was once so much hope in Tower Hamlets. Video from 5 May 2020

nice expensive paving you've got there... would be a shame if successive utility companies were to dig it up and not bother replacing it 😏 (2009, 2017, 2021)

Who's on the side of active travel, clean air, public transport, and children trying to survive the roads?

Labour is on the side of drivers.

Weak from Labour, who have had more than a decade to work on some decent plans. Most of us in LBTH don't get around by car, @Uma_Kumaran @ApsanaBegumMP @rushanaraali - is Labour no longer interested in enabling walking and cycling? x.com/CHAIRRDRF/stat…

#ManifestoWatch Yes, it's the @UKLabour Manifesto - and it's as bad as I had feared for Active Travel, Road Danger Reduction and decarbonising of transport. Here's why: labour.org.uk/updates/storie… 1./
