1000+ reported. Wrote a book about the history of cyclists reporting dangerous drivers. Questions are welcome, but insult=block

This is why texting in the queue is DANGEROUS! You deserve to lose your driving license if you do so. #fatal5 #reported

Hey @TfL the missing wands on CS7 are still missing since @thameswater removed them during their roadworks. Please can you arrange to have them replaced? 🚴🏻‍♀️

Many don't know but the minimum fine for HGVs on the phone is larger than for car drivers. It's a lot more

HGV driver was seen by Officers on the #OpTramline truck using his phone whilst driving on the M25. Stopped by #VanguardRST & @SurreyRoadCops, where they found the driver already has 6 points on licence, so reported to court & now faces disqualification. TC also notified. #Fatal5

In 1992, Brigitte Chaudhry MBE, a bereaved mother whose son was killed by a red light violator, founded RoadPeace, the UK’s national charity for road crash victims. She went on to establish the World Day of Remembrance. Find a #WDoR2024 event this Sunday via our website.

We need an update to the law @MoJGovUK @transportgovuk: if the person on the footage looks like a registered owner of the vehicle the burden to prove they are not the same person is on them. It's too easy to use this way to avoid more serious charges and some people will use it.

⚖️COURT RESULT Despite extensive enquiries, the speeding driver was not identified. However, the vehicle owner was taken to court for failing to nominate, where she was found guilty: 6 points, resulting in 6 month disqualification for totting £1,014 in fines, costs & surcharges

If your drivers are using handheld devices because lack of common sense, training or appropriate tools provided (which isn't a rocket science anymore) then all consequences are on you. An RTC can demolish your brand, reputation and some lives in a split of a second.

Yesterday I came across your driver of LN68ZFP rolling along in a queue of traffic whilst holding and using a mobile phone. I could clearly see the phone and the lit up screen. This was on Old Oak Road, northbound towards the A40 in London. @JohnLewisRetail @johnlewishelp

Keep your book receipt. I don't have mental energy yet, but seeing how things unfold it's very likely there will be a 2nd edition with more stories and insights to share. Once it is ready you'll get the ebook version if you already purchased the first one. phonekills.com

Just a reminder you can subscribe to newsletters or order the book on phonekills.com. I made a bit of cleanup so you can choose the topic you subscribe to.

It's not a rocket science. Death of the high street started with the car domination and raise of the malls.

New research from ⁦@livingstreets⁩ shows that people who walk or wheel to do their shopping spend more money and pedestrianised high streets see bigger sales. livingstreets.org.uk/policy-reports…

A brilliant national crash investigation conference yesterday. Great presentations, one from a bereaved mother who lost her daughter to an outrageous dangerous driver. Her words were so emotional and powerful that it left in no doubt the importance of this work. Truly inspiring!

Officer in @NationalHways unmarked #OpTramline truck recorded this driver using their phone whilst driving on the M23, Gatwick. Stopped by #VanguardRST and @SussexSRP's casualty reduction officers, where the driver was issued a TOR - 6 points, £200. #Fatal5 #PutDownThePhone

Apologies for being a nuisance, @NorthRoadJane or @HindlePie can you please DM me. I need a little help and can't message you.

In close pass cases always explain how driver behaviour affected you (scare, evasive action, brake) and how driving manner was not fit to conditions (weather, speed, visibility). Before those guidelines that already made a HUGE difference

The decision to invest €30-million in the world’s biggest bike parking (12,500 spaces) at Utrecht Central Station seems extravagant, but when you calculate the cost of the alternatives—in the context of tens of thousands of bike-train trips each day—it’s an absolute bargain...🧵

If a huge lorry like this can pass a cyclist safely giving plenty of space, why can't all drivers?

He's losing it and I love it

Driver overtook #VanguardRST in a marked #PoliceCar in excess of the speed limit on the M25. When stopped, it was found the plates being displayed didn't exist, and the original plates were in the boot. There was also no insurance, tax or MOT. Driver report, & vehicle seized.
