Dropped my daughter off to school this morning on our bikes, lady is parked outside, engine idling, standing outside her car. I politely said "morning, if you're staying long, would you turn off your engine please for the pollution? Thanks" she rolled her eyes at me & carried on.

Spot on from @louhaigh 💯 In 2023, 1,645 people were killed on GB roads. Over 28,000 were seriously injured.

Very important line here from @LouHaigh on road safety: "We treat road safety in a way as if it is somehow a natural accident. If the number of people being killed or seriously injured on our roads, were being killed in any other way, we'd be treating it as a pandemic."

Cycled past a driver on the phone in slow moving traffic and thought to myself "I'll get some better footage when they next pass me" except they didn't, because it's so much quicker by bike, especially during rush hour.

Stationary phone drivers are still dangerous for many reasons: 1) The people using their phones when stationary are very often the same people using them when moving. They only put the phone down because I caught them. 2) They are entirely unaware of people crossing the road…

Florida is a crazy place They literally built a road out to this tiny island, just so they could cover it in a car park

Driver on the phone this morning saw me filming him, then started apologising once he saw the camera, not wanting me to report him. Well, I don't want you using your phone while driving either. I cycled off and he was following me until I turned off down a cycle path.

Bicycles are really useful for covering short distances in short times. Trains are really useful for covering long distances in short times. Hope this helps.

I never ‘got’ the idea of buying a cycle and taking it for train rides?

1/ You didn't buy the road when you bought your house. 2/ Controlled Parking is what enables you to park relatively close to your home. 3/ That you care more about 67p a week to manage parking than about prams and wheelchairs being unable to use local pavements speaks volumes.

I know this is supposed to be comedic, but it really does make you question why we build our society around cars considering the death and destruction they cause daily.

Our car culture really is bonkers.

An illustration of how differently @hantshighways prioritises people in cars versus people on foot or bikes...

An adventure which we did not enjoy however, was this ridiculous obstacle deep in the residential areas of Locks Heath. I would really like someone from @FarehamBC to explain who exactly they're trying to stop with this, while heavily reducing accessibility for people w/o cars.

I wish the people who tell me that my daughter should wear a helmet (on a cargo bike) put their energy into telling other drivers not to dangerously and closely speed past us instead.

When I’m bike on way to my doctor but this happen car is Driving without due care near hit me @London_Cycles @London_Cycling @LDNbybike @theJeremyVine

Omg, I watched this thinking the red car was close and then... This should cost the driver his licence for life. Absolutely no excuses.

Here's a  shocking example of a #closepass caught on cam. It cost the driver: 9 Points on their licence A fine of £600 Surcharge of £66 Costs of £110 Motorists, leave at least 1.5m when overtaking at 30mph. More if overtaking at higher speeds. #2wheels

Ride safely and legally posing no risk to anybody = you deserve to get driven into by a multi tonne lorry driver. The replies to this... I honestly despair.

If you ride a bike on roads that dont have bike lanes, its your fault if you get hit If there are sidewalks available and you still ride on the road, its your fault if you get hit

Stop with this right now! 12 points = an immediate ban. You're already allowed to get away with sub par driving by ammassing points. If you're on 6 points, you already know that 6 more is a ban. If that would cause you hardship, don't get more points. Such an embarrassment.

⚖️Court Result⚖️ Guilty, but no ban for using his phone. This despite accruing 12 or more points. To ban him would have caused "exceptional hardship". #AO17XMH

Omg. I'm speechless. I'll take all the horns from impatient drivers all day long riding centrally rather than risk this. Hope the rider is OK.

This is why you should ride in the center of your lane. "¡Andá por el costadito, biciboludo!". Sí, claro, agarrá la bici y andá vos por la orilla...

¿Cómo sería en inglés "Andá por el costadito" o "por la orilla"/"orillado"? "Ride on the side!" así? "Ride in the side"?
