#AproposOfNothing: The phrase "game-changer" ought to be disqualifying. [#peaknevermind]

1950's long before cell phones & seeping tentacles of the Internet twining about the hearts of the little innocents to make them question their very biological being! "we had no idea" "we brought them up to be good Christians" "who is to blame"

Okay this is just Nazi propaganda

"Embarrassment"/Danger: Bill, you'd still be just fine with disparate impact if Trump wasn't so open about it. As long as you could pretend it wasn't the point, merely an accident of circumstance, you were okay with inflicted inequality, even criticized those who sought change.

Happy Thanksgiving to all, with full confidence that this great nation will overcome the temporary embarrassment of President Donald J. Trump, and that freedom and democracy will leave Trumpism on the ash heap of history where it belongs.

Musk's lawyers are objecting the transfer of InfoWars' X accounts to The Onion. Their claim is that X has “superior ownership” of all accounts on the platform. That's right, Elon owns your account, its followers, subscribers, even your DMs. This is a very dangerous precedent.

Yep, and he also ran as an anti Iraq war guy

Today's NYT article on Luzerne County, PA, is evidence again that Democrats have made some messaging errors, but that no amount of messaging is going to get through to people for whom reality is secondary to ginned-up fears produced by the right-wing rage machine.

#AproposOfNothing: I don't get how, after all this time, any revolutionary still expects both purity and satisfaction. It's actually a signal that theirs is a revolution to avoid the hell out of.

(chortle!) Conservatives resent liberal engagement. We can’t kiss conservative ass enough to satisfy that rightist craving. If engaging “conservatives” in social discourse actually worked, we wouldn’t be here in the moment as it finds us. (If it worked, it would have by now.)

As the left flees and X loses broader relevance, it becomes a more overtly right-wing site, @alibreland writes. But the right needs liberals on X in order to push conservative perspectives into the mainstream. theatlantic.com/technology/arc…

Because I came up in the conservative movement and spent endless hours listening to/reading conservative tastemakers and policy wonks, the way “conservatives” are embracing these cabinet picks—even after everything I’ve seen the last 8 years—is next level nihilism.

Yeah, they were just playin’.

So, I’m old enough to remember when traditional Republicans wanted absolutely nothing to do with Russia, rapist or UNQUALIFIED cabinet appointees.

Republican politicians have been promising this since Reagan, with Republican voters cheering them all the way. As long as they never took it so far, we could never say that was the point. Now Republicans will take it so far because they're Republicans and can't help themselves.

We are witnessing the preparation of the total downfall of the United States by the dumbest fucking cult that ever existed.

The next time someone tells you not to contradict the voters about their “lived experience”, remember that they revise their estimation of their lived experience at will

A month ago, nearly two-thirds of Republicans said that their economic situation was worse than a year ago. One Trump victory later, fewer than half do. washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/…

For years, as I watched fictional movies and tv shows about government, the military, our justice system, I have reassured family and friends, “that would never happen”. I am no longer confident of that and, well, that really, really sucks.

Nancy Mace's sexual fantasies.

I'm not sure why the bathroom is such an issue. There are stalls in ladies rooms. What's the issue here?
