Former President Jimmy Carter is 100 years old today! Join us in honoring our visionary co-founder, America’s humanitarian-in-chief. No other U.S. president has lived so long or done so much good for so many after leaving office. bit.ly/3zFj0Pf

As a woman from a lower-income home in Peru, NY, Elizabeth Izzo didn't see herself represented in local journalism. So she made a place for herself, working for the @SunCmtyNews, then the @AdkEnterprise She's now moving on to the @timesunion northcountrypublicradio.org/news/story/504…

Wow wow wow. Our little, rural station has won a national @RTDNA Edward R. Murrow award for overall excellence. I could not be prouder of our entire station and our newsroom leader, @davidncpr, who always encourages us to tell bigger and better stories.

A 13 ft. statue of Harriet Tubman was installed today at the John Brown Farm in Lake Placid. Tubman and Brown formed a friendship over their abolitionist efforts in the 1800s. The statue will be unveiled at the ⁦@NYstateparks⁩ site on Friday. Story to come on @ncpr

Friday on @NCPR and @NPR, we remember @NYSDEC Forest Ranger Robbi Mecus, a hero in the Adirondacks and a leader in the queer community. It's been a honor to interview some of the people closest to Mecus for this story.

Today is the first time I've had to ask NPR if people can say 'badass' on the radio. Why? Because I'm working on a story about Robbi Mecus's legacy.

People have donated about $60,000 on behalf of the two climbers involved in last week’s fatal accident in Alaska. Robbi Mecus, an Adirondack forest ranger, died in the accident. Melissa Orzechowski survived the fall, though was critically injured. northcountrypublicradio.org/news/story/497…

Deeply saddened by the news of Forest Ranger Robbi Mecus's death. She left a mark on everyone she met, including me. She was open and vulnerable with me as I worked on telling her story for @ncpr and @npr in 2021. And was a valuable source ever since. northcountrypublicradio.org/news/story/430…

We need a really big conversations about where the #Adirondacks are headed. The Park's stunning demographic decline is typical of rural America. What's different here, in theory, is we have agencies and non-profits designed to wrestle with big questions about community survival.

Plus shrinking school aid adds to the problem... adirondackexplorer.org/stories/aging-…

It was 6 degrees here in Brant Lake as dawn light filled the sky this morning. For anyone wondering, we had a bit over a foot of powder snow yesterday with temps only getting to around 26. Spring in the Adirondacks!
