Effigy Mounds National Monument in Iowa preserves over 200 ceremonial mounds that are sacred to the monument's 20 culturally associated Tribes. Built between 650 and 1200 CE, the mounds are found in one of the most scenic sections of the Upper Mississippi River Valley.
