I’m not typically one to gatekeep but if your legaltech founding team doesn’t have lawyer on it you’re making your life 100x harder
JS engineers are not ready to admit that snake case is better than camel case
👀
Where are the communities of people doing the kind of prompt engineering focused on designing the text for LLM inference? I’m talking making markdown tables, structuring the text, etc.
TIL that $2k / hr paralegals exist (they don’t)
OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar says lawyers are reporting that the new o1 reasoning model can do the work of a $2000/hour paralegal
Imagine post game interviews for your job Q: Seth, walk me through your approach there on that last email. You read it 15 times before sending. Me: Well I needed to make sure the text didn’t change unexpectedly
I’m bearish on local first AI products for enterprise Think about the laptop your standard professional is issued … some junk Dell or HP box with 8gb They throw a tantrum when opening excel. Now you want to throw tons of data, ML, and AI models at it? Bad UX
“Lawyers who don’t use #AI will be at a fundamental competitive disadvantage, and they will lose.” @jack_newton in his #ClioCon keynote.
One of my passions is beautifully formatted legal agreements
Happy to see my alma mater's law library has a guide on AI and law Well done @Villanova_Law libguides.law.villanova.edu/legaltechnolog…
Been saying this forever
Can anyone pinpoint the exact moment when the world started to go to shit?
This is good advice. If you do this long enough you’ll have money to spend on things you want Like coffee or takeout
Dave Ramsey says you're wasting $5,000 a year if you 'spend $13.70 a day on things you don't need,' like a cup of coffee or takeout lunch, per YF. Do you agree?
He’s hard on himself. LexMagic is already good but what’s coming is going to be epic
LexMagic has completely changed the way I do legal research as a practitioner (for the better) and I could not be more excited to keep building this and making the premiere suite of AI tools for litigators. And LexMagic is not even good yet! It's janky and half built!!!
Per user SaaS fees are the norm but they don’t make sense in a lot of cases
The value of @vercel is amazing. But as soon as you add your first team member, the value becomes hard to justify. I'm happy to pay extra for additional traffic, storage, etc., but paying for additional team members doesn't make any sense for a hosting platform.
Another round of talks this week with law firms of various sizes none of which use a particularly well-funded ai company's product and I'm just genuinely unsure what's going on
