"By taking Extreme Ownership, we can implement solutions to solve problems and help the team win. That's the core of leadership: taking ownership of everything in your sphere of influence." @LeifBabin @EchelonFront

One clear invitation from God to us these days is a movement away from our focus on large, carefully curated services and events to a return to a more biblical, decentralized model of church focused on the messy work of disciple-making.

There are no bad teams - only bad leaders.

Own it all doesn’t mean do it all.

Why are our egos so fragile that we can’t lead with an attitude of grace toward others? Always give the benefit of the doubt but be wise and discerning enough to cut it off

Instead of assigning sinister intent to someone's actions, could it be that they thought they were doing what was best to help the team? Instead of allowing our ego to make us angry or frustrated, ask earnest questions to understand why others made the decisions they did and…

Admitting mistakes, taking ownership, and developing a plan to overcome challenges are integral to any successful team.

Leadership is the ability to lead with passion and enthusiasm even when things don’t go your way. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:9

Bad bosses punish time off. They see vacations as a lack of dedication to work. Good bosses grant time off. They see vacations as a source of energy for work. Great bosses insist on time off. They see vacations as a right, not a reward—they care about your life beyond work.

"What do you want to be when you grow up?" sends the wrong message about work. We should teach kids that who you are is more than what job you do. Work is an activity—it doesn't have to define your identity. A healthy sense of self is rooted in character, not career choice.

The learning process isn't finished when you acquire knowledge. It's complete when you consistently apply that knowledge. Many people accumulate information. Far fewer use it to evolve and improve. The ultimate test of growth is closing the gap between awareness and action.

Owning up to your mistakes doesn’t cast doubt on your credibility. Admitting you were wrong shows that you care about getting it right. Recognizing moments of bad judgment is a step toward demonstrating good judgment. Issuing a correction is a mark of intellectual integrity.

God's first words after the Fall were, "Where are you?" It's only one word in Hebrew: אַיֶּכָּה (ayyekkah). In that one word is compressed a whole theology: -God seeks out the lost sinner. -God welcomes him to confess. -God desires his restoration. -God works his redemption.

I would rather have questions that can't be answered than answers that can't be questioned.

A common source of disappointment is recency bias: weighing the last week more heavily than the last year. Zooming in on the immediate past magnifies slumps. Zooming out farther reveals upward slopes. Progress is rarely visible at a snapshot in time. It unfolds over a lifetime.

Beating yourself up doesn't make you stronger. It leaves you bruised. Being kind to yourself isn’t about ignoring your weaknesses. It's about giving yourself permission to learn from your mistakes. We grow by embracing shortcomings, not punishing them. ted.com/talks/dan_harr…

What you get out of sermons isn’t just up to your pastor. It’s also up to you. Pride: “I know this already.” Humility: “I need this again.” Don’t be a prideful listener.

Rob Prather Reposted

Minimize the hold that pride has on preventing correction.
