Finally worked-up some Pec Sand sketches from a while ago at Frampton Marsh. One day I'll actually use paint again instead of a Bic biro...!
Finally managed to track down some Hawfinch of my own in the PBC recording area, with at least 5 in the grounds of Southwick Hall, Northants yesterday afternoon (viewed from churchyard) @BirdGuides @RareBirdAlertUK
The Black-necked Grebe found yesterday by @LinfordBirder was always fairly distant this afternoon at Deeping Lakes (Main Lake), Lincs, but was a gripped-back PBC year tick nonetheless @BirdGuides @RareBirdAlertUK @Lincsbirding @lincsbirders
Nice to bump into our apparent resident Glossy Ibis, feeding on flooded fields, Green Lane, Etton/Maxey, Cambs at 1410hrs @BirdGuides @RareBirdAlertUK @CambsBirdClub
Hard going today on Shetland with @rgreasby …..even this Common Rosefinch made us work for partially obscured views at Burn of Sound, 1750hrs @BirdGuides @RareBirdAlertUK
Well there it is, Pechora Pipit. A real Shetland speciality. Present still at 1330hrs, Quendale Mill @birdguides @RareBirdAlertUK
Another cracking Shetland Day with @paolobolton Always a great day finding Barred Wrblr, and today’s in Toab was no exception. Diverted via Tingwall and were treated to views of Corncrake. Pictured here in full-Road Runner mode Lesser Whitethroat and Red Grouse for the trip.
Unbelievable views today of an Otter near Sandness, Shetland. Watched down to 30ft away with @rgreasby whilst it devoured its catch. Also, Yellow-browed Warbler & Redstart nearby in Cruisdale (House) gardens, Melby at 1627hrs @BirdGuides @RareBirdAlertUK #shetland
Superb days birding in Shetland today. Lanceolated & Pallas’s Grasshopper Warblers were superb, but finding this Golden Oriole with @rgreasby in a small plantation, 2 mins walk from our accommodation was the undoubted highlight @BirdGuides @RareBirdAlertUK
Finally added Whinchat to the PBC year list this morning having located this individual at Milton airstrip, Ailsworth, Cambs @CambsBirdClub
Although very distant on the mudflats at Snettisham, unfortunately I think this is the Long-finned Pilot Whale, again in trouble sadly. A few hours to go till the high tide @BirdGuides @RareBirdAlertUK
Another unsuccessful search for the first juvenile Caspian or YLG’s of the season at Tanholt, Cambs this morning, however numbers of Wall Brown butterflies were as high as I can recall @Natures_Voice #ukwildlife #nature #wildlife
Nice to find a Quail so close to home this morning. Conveniently right next to footpath rather than several hundreds yards out in the field! Had all but given up hope of seeing it (as usual) so packed optics away, picked up bike……then caught a glimpse of it! @CambsBirdClub
This Glossy Ibis was intent on photobombing my target bird, the Med Gull, found on East Pit, Deeping Lakes last night by @WeedonsWorld An overdue PBC area year tick for me @Lincsbirding @lincsbirders @BirdGuides @RareBirdAlertUK
After the @GlobalBirdfair I went back to see the Etton Pits Stone Curlew and had amazing views. My third local area tick of the year and surely the local bird of the year... so far! @inlandseabirder @WeedonsWorld @jrmjones @paolobolton @BirdGuides @CambsBirdClub
Black-Winged Pratincole at Finningley gravel pits this morning Digiscoped though a @SwarovskiOptik STX85 @RareBirdAlertUK @BirdGuides @DonnyBirding
Brief but good views of the smart adult Rose-coloured Starling in Felixstowe. All thanks to the kind house owner who very kindly let us into his garden! @RareBirdAlertUK @OMSYSTEMcameras
This 1st-summer Little Gull provided some decent views today on the rapidly disappearing patch of flood at Cowbit Wash, Lincs. Still present at 1420hrs @BirdGuides @RareBirdAlertUK @Lincsbirding @lincsbirders
Great to finally connect with a White-winged Scoter - the Stejneger’s Scoter that was refound yesterday afternoon at Musselburgh. Perfect timing for my visit to Edinburgh! @birdinglothian
Mid-evening excitement ensued yesterday when @WeedonsWorld found this 2s Night Heron on Cowbit wash, Lincs. We currently have in our PBC recording area, 8 Spoonbill, 2 Glossy Ibis, 2 Black-winged Stilts & said Night Heron @BirdGuides @RareBirdAlertUK @Lincsbirding @lincsbirders
