I'm honestly astounded by how many academic don't keep a separate personal page. My university page now (other than all the default stuff it loads in) is basically a single sentence pointing to my external website.

Peers and professors, what’s one thing you look for in a PhD student’s academic website or feel is necessary for a website?

It's okay for you to get help with your online presence too. You don’t have to start from scratch. You can get your website up TODAY with @owlstown, a free academic website builder from my friend Dr. Ian Li. Owlstown is quick and easy to use.

My professor clients tell me summer is a time they get a lot of things done, especially what they couldn't get to during the academic year. Creating your personal academic website might be on your "I wish I could do this if I had the time" list.

#twitterstorians - do you have a website? If so, share it below, and I'll retweet!

I set up a really polished website (used @squarespace). Pay to go ad-free… bc it’s really awkward to have an ad for foot cream under your CV. This is a space to show who you are as an academic and regular human. (3/7)

Friends, what do you think is the best platform to host a personal website for blogs, academic stuff, etc etc.? Thanks!
