It worked! Sod translocations to help Myrmica ants colonize new moist grasslands which was then colonized by Phengaris teleius. Read the thread and the paper! Targeting soil fauna is needed for best restoring species rich rare grassland types 🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🦋

Excited to have my 1st paper published! 🥳 we proof the successful method “sod translocation” for the habitat restoration of the myrmecophilous butterfly #Phengaris_teleius 🦋 read the threat 👇🏽 @Ecol_Evol doi.org/10.1002/ece3.9…

A rooted cutting taken from a seedling (left) and a cutting from a mature tree which callused and survived but did not root (right). Isabel Negri from @Kew_MSBUK presents the results from 3 trials in this #LivingAsh update. buff.ly/3Q5TLZn

We revisited a tree, tolerant to ash dieback in 2017, which was grafted and now living in the National Archive. It is doing very well there, so we wanted to check how it is doing in its original home, as you can see, it is a very promising selection. #LivingAsh #ash #ashdieback

Pushed near extinction in Lebanon, the seeds of Iris cedreti, stored in our #MillenniumSeedBank are a lifeline. Evolving to germinate sometimes years apart, it's been a tricky task for our @kewgardens colleagues to produce this rare bloom! 🌺 #GardeningTwitter #Iris @IUCNRedList

Happy International Day of Plant Health! We are researching ways to improve ash propagation via cuttings for the Living Ash Project. Many of the cuttings from our trials are producing leaves, and soon we’ll be collecting results. #LivingAshProject #tolerantash

#LivingAshProject aims to identify ash trees with good tolerance to ash dieback to secure this material for further breeding work. Watch this video explaining the process for landowners and woodland owners to identify trees within a woodland setting. youtu.be/Nm1zfkgG9RU

@Kew_MSBUK is recruiting for a new project - Native Seeds for Restoration: diversity and resilience in the UK. It's a unique opportunity to help identify native species and/or populations at greatest risk from #climatechange at the germination stage. careers.kew.org/vacancy/scienc…

We’ve set up another trial for the #LivingAshProject to find the best conditions to propagate Ash dieback-tolerant trees from cuttings. We took hardwood cuttings from mature trees and from seedlings, since younger material is expected to root more easily. #tolerantash
