I am the only Palestinian American serving in Congress, and my perspective is needed here now more than ever. I will not be silenced and I will not let anyone distort my words. I’m from Detroit, where I learned to speak truth to power, even if my voice shakes.

Thanks @ChrisTuttell for the shoutout!

I would definitely be down for a nationwide Adult Scholastic Book Fair.

I will NEVER stop pursuing a nationwide Adult Scholastic Book Fair! Book fairs in breweries/wineries with the intent of funds raised being dedicated to the local school’s future scholastic book fairs so that each kid leaves with a good book. No one leaves empty-handed! 📚

Growing up I loved going to the Chicago Public Library to check out books. That is why I cherish libraries to this day and will protect everyone's right to intellectual freedom and their right to read what they want to read. ncnewsline.com/2023/08/03/as-…

I had the privilege of presenting this week at @NCCATNews along with my colleagues @LibrarianHaley_ and Beth Bruch on Advocating for School Libraries and Collections and Programming for ALL. It was a wonderful experience.

What a creative way to get books into children's hand.

I am still believing in the universe for $100,000. I was supposed to have made it by now, but I got hit by the #NCTeacherTax

Michelle should already have that $100k but she was shortchanged by #ncpol by remaining dedicated to #nced We can’t fill a pipeline if we continue the #NCTeacherTax

Black women, must learn to be better networkers and connectors. Connection is good. Support is good. When we don’t network and connect we lose out, big time.

We pay too much attention to the most confident voices—and too little attention to the most thoughtful ones. Certainty is not a sign of credibility. Speaking assertively is not a substitute for thinking deeply. It's better to learn from complex thinkers than smooth talkers.

I just signed a @commoncause petition: Social media platforms MUST combat election disinformation, hate speech, harassment, and other harmful content on their sites. Sign here: act.commoncause.org/petitions/face…

I was glad I attended the #NCUEA conference in Salt Lake City, Utah and learn so much about Community Schools, Race/Class Narrative and Censorship.

I am believing the universe for $100,000 to pay all my bills. Hey if I don’t put it out there I will never get, right?

I want this endless gun violence to come to an end.

All I can say is wow!

I presented at the @NCSLMA today in Winston-Salem discussing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the importance of media coordinators being strong advocates for our students inside and outside of the school buildings.
