“Clear scans”, with a 7cm endometrioma. I’ve seen this numerous times. Make it make sense. Why is awareness of clinical signs of #endometriosis so low? Why is any sort of pelvic pain so easily dismissed? While this disease isn’t malignant, neither is it benign.

Pt presents to A&E w severe symptoms. Abt to be dismissed w ibuprofen & then emergency appendectomy which reveals severe disease. Appendix ovaries bladder & bowel strangled. 7cm endometrioma. “Clear scans” On hormone suppression for 4yrs. NO👏DRUG👏HALTS👏DISEASE #endometriosis

I'm sitting in Denmark right now (where kids <12 were never masked & it's not because Danes don't care about health🇩🇰) reading all of the responses👇 from people who continue to want to mask hospitalized 2 year olds. The fact that so many in the US want to continue this practice…

This is incredible & so sad to see👇. It's not just that multiple California counties are reinstating health care mask mandates, but Santa Clara Co will require children as young as 2 to mask while hospitalized🤦‍♀️ Who believes this is good "health care"? sfchronicle.com/health/article…

Good to hear a Labor minister finally state the obvious that Israel is not complying with international law. Every MP/senator should be asked this. The follow up should be why then is the government continuing to support Israel’s genocide, war crimes and atrocities?

'Is Israel complying with international law? Well, the bombing of schools and the bombing of hospitals I think are not complying with international law.' Education Minister @JasonClareMP on News Breakfast this morning. @abcnews

More thoughts from 🇸🇪’s Anders Tegnell on pandemic management. We need to consider whether the ‘precautionary principle’ in a pandemic should mean ‘throw everything at it’ [no matter the potential harms]. That might make sense in the ER but not when it’s about the way people…

Disabled people are far more likely to pretend they're "fine" and essentially self-gaslight into thinking they're "frauds", than they are to be "exaggerating" how they're feeling. Actually I've never met a disabled person who has been "over-exaggerating" - only ever the opposite

Effective dissemination of info agreed upon by global experts is a huge part of the problem. Hence we continue to see $ going to the wrong research. Students only know what they’re taught. The curriculum has to change. For all disciplines involved in the path to diagnosis & care.

“The definition of endometriosis is so important to get right! It informs research, path to care & treatment approaches. Let's all start as we mean to go on. This starts with having the right definition.” #endometriosisactionmonth Via @reythewarrior on IG. A very important CTA.

Unfortunately there’s a lot wrong here. If education still dictates endometriosis is rogue endometrium, it influences everything. Research, care recommendations etc. we are going backwards. @WorldEndoSoc this is where the focus needs to be. Updating medical school curriculum.

It makes sense to test therapeutic outcomes on endometrial organoids. Endometriosis lesions outside the uterus still walk and talk like normal endometrium, and it's considered an inflammatory condition. Congrats to this student and her hard work, looking forward to the results

“Medical student earns prestigious fellowship to help women with endometriosis” This wld be funny if it wasn’t embarrassing, infuriating & a spectacular waste of funds. Endometriosis, by definition, occurs OUTSIDE THE UTERUS & IS NOT ENDOMETRIAL TISSUE. health.ucdavis.edu/news/headlines…

Pts have been saying this for a long time & are ignored. Change MUST start w education at every touch point in the care path. This takes time. This requires updating medical curriculums. This requires a level of strategy, collaboration & focus I am yet to see from any org/s.

Worrying new data shows that the experience of living with endometriosis is as frustrating and painful today as it was 24 years ago. Read more at: endometriosis-uk.org/press-release-…

I was lucky enough to spend some time with James Earl Jones. He was everything you might have hoped, and a fair bit more. Wise, kind, funny, impossibly handsome, with a voice that could have crumbled the walls of Jericho. It was such an honour.

“We removed what we could….” “We removed most of the disease…” Followed by: “Stay on hormonal suppression to help stop recurrence…” It’s not recurrence, it’s persistence. If a practitioner lacks the skills to excise all disease they need to refer. #endometriosis

Another false dawn. The only thing different here is it is a daily pill but it is no different from other GnRH antagonists - chemical menopause. It carries all the same risks, notably significant bone density loss, plus no evidence it actually “shrinks” #fibroids #linzagolix

1/ When a drug that was denied FDA approval gets approved for use in UK & EU, it requires investigation. In any case, any drug being positioned as “new” (when it isn’t) & use long term “May shrink” disease it raises 🚩🚩🚩 TY to @blog_endo for you work investigating this:

I struggle to think of any other condition where you would identify a disease, then wait 20+ years to treat when it could result in organ loss or damage (kidney, liver). Make it make sense. #endometriosis

Pt quote: “I wish my pain was taken seriously to have surgery for stage 1. Got to 38yrs & stage 4, 2 huge ops & organ loss.” Leaving pts languishing on drugs while disease progresses is expensive (in more ways than 1). Early expert intervention saves organs & lives #endometriosis
