Incredible training course so far in Venice, Italy on above water radiometry, associated uncertainties and processing methods @FRM4SOC @CopernicusEU @eumetsat @NASA @MarineInst
Field trip to the AAOT tower off the coast of Venice to collect hyperspectral data for the @FRM4SOC @CopernicusEU training 🛰️🌊🛥️
Delighted to be taking part in @CopernicusEU @FRM4SOC training on above water radiometry. Most excited about @NASA HyperCP community processor and how we can apply our @MarineInst Celtic Explorer hyperspectral data to this. Looking forward to joining in person in Venice soon☀️
Copernicus FRM4SOC-2024 training on In situ Ocean Colour Above-Water Radiometry towards Satellite Validation will kick off on Monday 6 May at CNR-ISMAR in Venice and nearby Acqua Alta Oceanographic Tower (AAOT) in the Adriatic Sea. frm4soc2.eumetsat.int/post/copernicu…
🛰️NASA’s Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem (PACE) satellite launched into orbit on the 8th of February. It has hyperspectral sensors that will improve the discrimination of phytoplankton from space. Scientists are ready to dive into the data: How PACE measurements of…

Finally got down to see the large Fin whale on my local Ross beach in Killala Co. Mayo. Incredible to get to see one of the second largest mammals on earth in person but also sad to see this was her end. If going to see her, stay well back incase that stomach explodes 🐋
View of Ireland from space when Mayo and Donegal were covered in a blanket of snow on the 18th of January 2024. #satellite #Ireland #snow #sentinel3 #ESA
Incredibly beautiful shapes among the winter phytoplankton in my sample collected off Plymouth, UK; they are like jewels. These single 'solar' cells begin the marine food chain. Watch a dinoflagellate get eaten by a copepod. @zeiss_micro

Lots of interest in the marine heatwave that has developed in the Atlantic. Particularly high temperatures are seen west of Ireland, in the North Sea, and Bay of Biscay. We've had a look at the situation west of Ireland (1/9)
