A reminder of our concerns about removing Autism and Learning Disabilities from the Mental Health Act. To be clear we donโ€™t think our people should be in hospital, but without a government commitment to providing the right community care, things could get much worse for them.โ€ฆ

One other, rather ironic, change in the new MHA. Police cells cannot be used as a place of safety, but it will still be okay to put people in solitary confinement in a hospital, with just a mattress on the floor, no window, no fresh air and sometimes no toilet. Food and medsโ€ฆ

Section 135/136 MHA: - Police stations cannot *ever* be used as a Place of Safety under the MHA - So the 2017 Regulations and "inspector's authority" for use of a police station all disappears. 2/

Morning all Question. When will the media address the fact that King Charles The Greedy and William Prince of No Shame are fleecing the country. #BBCBreakfast #Dispatches

So if @bbcstrictly (which I love and watch) is about inclusion and representation, it's beyond time that it gives a platform to the least understood & represented disability. Enough of the 'you don't have enough of a social media presence.' Just book @ciarale01 already.

"It starts in the community & it ends in the community". Will this govt finally act to end this state-sanctioned human rights abuse @Keir_Starmer @wesstreeting? Will there ever be 'the right support' so that learning disabled/autistic people can live in #HomesNotHospitals?

Remarkable video from @theRRNetwork on #HomesNotHospitals. If you do one thing today, watch this and share it. restraintreductionnetwork.org/resource/homesโ€ฆ

For services to upholstery?

Dame Therese Coffey. Why exactly? For what?

Not rocket science: โ€˜understanding and humanityโ€™ says @JeremyH09406697 at long last has the right support and consequently is safe and happy in the community. #HomesNotHospitals

"People didn't understand or support her." Jeremy Harris' autistic daughter, Bethany, was sectioned as a teenager. Her mental health has only improved since receiving specialist social care-something the current 'UK system lacks'. trib.al/Rx0iR33 ๐Ÿ“บ Sky 501 and YT

There is something faintly ludicrous about the government announcing billions of pounds of cuts to disability benefits before working out how it is going to do it, akin to the Child Catcher wielding a big net and not caring who it is he traps.

Has anyone else noticed the deafening silence from the @BBCNews @SkyNews @itvnews @STVNews after Channel 4โ€™s shocking Dispatches programme on the Royals creaming off ยฃmillions each year from our public services including our NHS, which is already on its knees?

Some time in 2025 after the Assisted Dying vote: Mabel is too frail to return home from hospital, but has no acute medical problem after her UTI was treated for 3 days. She has been sitting in a hospital bed for 5 weeks waiting for a care home placement. She feels awful aboutโ€ฆ

Agree, too many C(E)TRs taking place in 2hours or less, not adhering to national guidance, chairs not believing in the process, just a tick box, using social workers as clinical advisors, recommendations not being followed, person and family not being supported to be involved

The Government is about to vote on a new law which will shape the future of work - but it's missing a proper increase in the minimum wage. Add your name to the petition now: the.organise.network/campaigns/petiโ€ฆ

So, I've been thinking about these NHS suggestions. Maybe we could stop locking up autistic and people with learning difficulties for decades in horrific conditions @DisRightsUK @RightfulLives @mencap_charity At the cost of half a billion a year. Just a thought @wesstreeting ๐Ÿ˜‘โ€ฆ

It's disappointing that the NHS consultation isn't accessible yet for people with a learning disability, with no easy read. We've asked for the issue to be fixed promptly so that people with a learning disability can take part. Where's the Easy Read? โฐ learningdisabilitytoday.co.uk/news/governmenโ€ฆ
