It is outrageous that student research projects were shared with the Peoples' Republic of China without student knowledge or consent and without making sure this did not run afoul of US laws, which it likely did. washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/beltwa…

It's hard to believe that she voluntarily took a low-profile middle management, career-ending job over being the principal of the former number one high school school in the country.

🔥BREAKING. After DESTROYING the country’s No. 1 high school, Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology @TJHSST_Official — now ranked No. 14 — principal Ann Bonitatibus RESIGNS. She needs a new Twitter handle. She haughtily pegged her handle to affiliation with TJ:…

TJ Principal Ann Bonitatibus is no more. Query whether this was really a "promotion" or whether it was punishment for school administrators selling TJ's secrets (including research papers) to the People's Republic of China in exchange for donations to the TJ Partnership Fund.

Great news!! Let’s hope the replacement will be worthy of the school’s legacy.

Number of TJHSST National Merit Semifinalists Since 2016 2025: 81 (1st yr new adm syst - 100 more students than in prior years) 2024: 165 2023: 132 2022: 144 2021: 132 2020: 157 2019: 159 2018: 145 2017: 119 2016: 163

The county had 191 semifinalists this year, far fewer than the 264 last year. Could the new test-free admissions system, not just redistributing talent from TJ to base schools, be actively harming the development of students who could have gone to TJ in the prior system?

This is despite the fact that class sizes at TJ were increased from approximately 450 per class to 550 per class. So 81 out of 550 versus 165 out of 450. Quite a decline.
