Pulling off a strike requires really deep organizing that takes time, people have to feel like taking on a considerable financial risk/hardship is worth it and a one-day action that isn't tied to getting a raise or improving their healthcare is probably not going to move them

Christine Grimaldi Reposted

I get the sentiment and that my answer is a real downer but I honestly think the reality is no we can't, it would be an illegal strike that unions wouldn't want to risk encouraging their members to participate in and non-union workers are not organized and wouldn't go out

Christine Grimaldi Reposted

The answer is May Day 2028, and if you’re not in a union yet you need to organize one to be a part of it so get on it amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/j…

Interesting that Kenneth Cole’s daughter is putting out more accurate information on the number of state abortion bans than national reproductive rights orgs. 41 states have bans at some point in pregnancy, not 22. (Second photo of PP map annotated by @RHAVote)

while you’re all here admiring my amazing discipline, stamina, and physical strength: consider donating to—and/or spreading the word about —this fundraiser to publish a chapbook of work by incarcerated writers in Maine 🖤 or come through Portland on 11/2 bit.ly/MCCwriters

oh sick, thanks for the fortitude tips my guy. when I’M in writing mode for a novel I simply go to my three different non-writing jobs and then drive to every single goodwill in the area in search of a toddler-sized lion costume that “isn’t too dark inside”

Haruki Murakami on his amazing discipline and on how stamina and physical strength are intimately tied to mental strength.

Abortion funds in the Southeast were already in a funding crisis. Now the region is facing catastrophic damage and extensive displacement from #HurricaneHelene. The need for abortion doesn’t stop for natural disasters. Split a donation between 15 funds: secure.actblue.com/donate/helene-…

This is genuinely one of my favorite @cancelme_daddy episodes I've recorded. It was fun playing off of @chgrimaldi and the two of us bringing our experiences as Capitol Hill reporters to our analysis of the Nuzzi/RFK Jr scandal was special! x.com/cancelme_daddy…

just to be clear people CAN take pills after 10 weeks & have successful abortions. it is a valid option but also one that comes with a lot more prep, knowledge, & support that most telehealth providers refuse to engage with

qq: are they trained to accompany abortion seekers past 10 weeks for MABs assuming every person has the time, space, privacy, emotional preparation etc to go through a 24 hour process of miscarrying a formed fetus?

Maybe no single intellectual habit that’s more lazy, more destructive, or more common than the assumption that women’s concerns about misogyny or gender inequality in their own lives are trivial and unsophisticated.

The worst people in the world continue to think that they have a constitutional right to powerful jobs like mayor of New York—or Supreme Court Justice.
