Our research on Sites of Community Significance in the Land Reform Bill was discussed at committee this week, by @markruskell @CommunityLandSc @DTAScot @LocalPeopleLead etc on #CommunityEmpowerment and #landreform Read: bit.ly/4hCjuqt Watch: scottishparliament.tv/meeting/net-ze…

Community empowerment is premised on communities proactively addressing land needs. However, there is little community proactivity in the Land Reform Bill. What could strengthen proactive communities within the proposals? A potential community designation is explained below.

Our 2nd Insights Report! @cdoyle34 explores how a 'Sites of Community Significance' designation could better support the land needs of communities in the Land Reform Bill. sruc.figshare.com/ndownloader/fi… #LandReform #RuralExchange

Good Rural Policy CPG this evening 🙌 My take away was the huge potential of Community Benefit + shared ownership in coming decades; meanwhile third sector funding is cut, as is the Scottish Land Fund. There needs to be a structured and funded plan to build community capacity!!

Interesting meeting @scotgov cross party group on rural communities Jane Atterton @SRUC @RuralPolicySRUC @EmmaHarperMSP tax, land values & community benefit @ScottishLandCom @NeilMacKinnon1 @SoSEnterprise good to see @sarah_skerratt communities shared ownership space

What would a feminist approach to land use planning in rural Scotland be? What would be prioritised? Childcare, farm safety, public toilets ..? The blog below sets out key points and asks for YOUR priorities. ruralexchange.scot/blog/feminist-… #feminism #Scotland #rural

If I could change 2 things about Anniesland : (1) remove the thru commuter traffic (ha!!) and reconnect pedestrian and cyclist routes (2) freedom of choice for all local schools. There is entrenched wealth segregation related to secondary schools, which impacts on our kids

There is a lot of love about Anniesland, most of it under played. Some great designed housing and public spaces, built by the council for the people and still doing that purpose. Great transport links, beautiful green spaces. Interesting small businesses.

A guest blog from @CommunityLandSc on the urban community land ownership hub. Together with @DTAScot experience, the opportunity and delivery of community led reuse of vacant & derelict land is clear, as is the importance of early stage support.

In our latest guest blog, Linsay Chalmers of @CommunityLandSc analyses the key learning from a project supporting urban communities interested in land re-use, an area that our upcoming VDL review will highlight as requiring more action. Read the full blog on our website…
