Some good news! @Policy_Exchange won the Advocacy Award at the 20th annual @prospect_uk Think Tank awards!! It was an honour to meet @arusbridger and a privilege to collect the award on behalf of my colleagues. I am delighted that their hard work has been recognised!

The International Criminal Court’s decision to issue arrest warrants against Israel’s Prime Minister and its former Defence Minister is an abuse of power which is likely to have very damaging consequences. A thread 🧵

“Literally *****every*****outsider with real cutting edge ideas and knowledge brought in full time to build stuff in my space of R&D …either got ejected by the system by disgruntled factions or quit in disgust...” 👇👇👇A new one joins the list. The golden rule strikes again!

Yep. Agree with what you write. There has been no real plan enacted for a long time because the system is literally incapable of it. As I said at the time, hiring Sue Gray was somewhat like hiring the Lehman brothers to sort out the financial crisis, and the way they configured…

Completely agree. There is an entire industry and coalition of grifters whose forecasts on AI this past decade have been universally wrong, and they had to be taken off the steering wheel. Obviously they didn’t like it.

Award winning garden photographer Carole Drake visited Parham this time last year and took some stunning photos of Parham and we were lucky enough to have a mist that swept over the Estate with which Carole captured perfectly.

St James’s Park has been chosen as the site for the Queen Elizabeth Memorial. The memorial will reflect the late Queen’s extraordinary life of service and provide a space for pause and reflection. Read more about the announcement here: gov.uk/government/new…

Exciting news! No 10 and the Cabinet Office are creating an elite team of highly empowered technical experts at the heart of government. Their mission is to help departments harness the potential of AI to improve the delivery of public services. 👇👇 ai.gov.uk

Civil Service reform needs to be the Government’s highest priority. If we are to unleash the Ninjas, implementing the Declaration on Government Reform won’t be enough. We need to open up the Civil Service via legislation! 👇👇👇 policyexchange.org.uk/publication/op…

thetimes.co.uk/article/f06f1d… Really good to see the Cabinet Secretary agree with the issues that have been highlighted in the last few weeks. Reform is urgent - there are total ninjas trapped in the lower rungs of the CS, we urgently need to let the talent rise and open things up.

The relevant legislation makes clear that the hallowed Northcote-Trevelyan principle of appointment by merit only applies to applicants from OUTSIDE the civil service. Useful!
