As someone who published two books this year, I can tell you that mainstream publishing is dominated by romance, fantasy, and sci-fi, all of which were never elitist and are rapidly growing more diverse. Maybe visit a bookstore

Literature has become elitist. In many ways, it always has been dominated by these elements. The problem is when we have lost touch from the common man so much that we are no longer reflecting their reality.

Not gonna lie, hard to get fired up about Grammy noms but I am happy that @k_crutchfield got one. Also @ShaboozeysJeans

We have lost Dorothy Allison. RIP. Her essay "A Question of Class" has never felt more relevant. PLEASE READ historyisaweapon.com/defcon1/skinal…

So sad. Please read her writing. She brought so much power, vulnerability, courage and love to the literary world. One of the true greats of the late 20th century.

Dorothy Allison author of the groundbreaking novel BASTARD OUT OF CAROLINA has died. A self identified lesbian femme her work focused on class struggle, sexual abuse of children, and lesbianism. 4/11/1949-11/6/2024

This is a powerful insight into our shared mood today...still, PLEASE VOTE

it really fucks people up that an individual vote is so inconsequential that it becomes, essentially, a symbolic gesture, but that electoral results are an extremely consequential outcome of the aggregate of those symbolic gestures.

THIS. Also, Vibe published the greatest women writers of the '90s/early 200s -- Danyel Smith, Joan Morgan, dream hampton, Mimi Valdés to name a few

Quincy Jones created the most aspirational hip hop magazine in 1993. The original @VibeMagazine staff came from fashion to give it a luxury feel. It launched future giants in music journalism. Here’s the test issue with Treach and the official first issue with Snoop.
