Part of the problem with Coates is he wants us to be complex and nuanced about some things (whether participating in atrocities is understandable in certain circumstances) while also dismissing appeals to complexity as something powerful people do to obscure simple moral truths.
I mean it's the reference point was a painting by da vinci so I guess you can't describe it as like a "sacred symbol" per se but at least like can't you say like "mockery of our holy text" or something
I actually like this album less than the reviewer but it's embarrassing that the preeminent music outlet is getting basic facts wrong.
