They want you to feel powerless and surrender and let them trample everything and you are not going to let them. You are not giving up, and neither am I. The fact that we cannot save everything does not mean we cannot save anything and everything we can save is worth saving.

Flat-out admiration for the crew who put together tonight's @cbcradio election special – the sheer array of guests spanning every angle (from former WH staffers to Twitch influencers) is exactly what they do so well... Makes me miss the newsroom – but not the accompanying stress!

My people listening to a song: honestly the way that guitar line comes out of nowhere while the singer is handling that lyric with this delivery… it ruined me for a month Normal people listening to a song: hey that’s a nice song

Exactly the type of thing I want to read - the opposite of the 'hot new thing,' album-cycle promo puff-piece dreck that passes as 'music writing' these days... More, please, of spotlighting music & art as labour and the veteran acts who've been doing it their own way for ages.

In a music industry dominated by cold-hearted streaming goliaths, money-hungry monopolies, and imperial superstars, @LosCampesinos’ triumphs are especially worthy of celebration—and, perhaps, replication by other artists in search of a more humane path hearingthings.co/los-campesinos…

The slow drip of heartbreaking closures continues (still love ya, T.O., but ooooof)...

Presse Internationale has been on Bloor St W for almost two decades. It’s a small business that helps to create a thriving main street, but next month it is closing because of an unaffordable $4,000 rent hike. It doesn’t have to be this way. It’s time to look into commercial…

Believe us when we say: it was a time. (As arts editor, I sent Rad's predecessor – hi, @rcolintait! – on a studio junket to L.A. [not kidding], wherein he proceeded to pan the insipid rom-com, much to the Varsity team's delight... & the studio's chagrin.)

I was a student film critic for @TheVarsity in 2006 when I got a whole half-hour for this 1:1 conversation and photo shoot with Alfonso Cuaron (which you just couldn't imagine nowadays). Credit to our photog Kara Leo for getting this fetal shot, which says more than we expected.

.@TheLocal_TO continuing to do the kind of essential hyperlocal journalism the mainstream press simply isn't (or can't) anymore. Constantly floored by the level of care, thought, & excellent reportage that goes into everything they publish.
