Y'all Penn State students are gonna be so embarrassed once the new high rise includes a new McDonald's.

Penn State students are holding a candlelight vigil outside of the McDonalds in downtown State College because it closed. A high rise will be built in this spot & previous reports indicate a McDonalds will be in the high rise. Chants of “fu— your high rise” have broken out

I thought this was about Gaza. This is totally ridiculous. A McDonald's can be in literally any storefront.

i truly do not understand people who spend a lot of time protesting buildings being built tall buildings in particular mean more places for people to live, more shops, and less sprawl and carbon emissions

Any student who attends a protest like this should have their admission letter rescinded. They clearly weren't going to use it for anything of value.

Same thing happened at Columbia when they replaced a McDonalds with a high rise. I think some segment of college students just likes the aesthetics of protesting even if what they’re protesting is dumb and even counterproductive.

these same students: "why is my rent so expensive??"

Crazy that Penn State students will protest student housing that will reincorporate their beloved McDonald’s back into the ground floor. The anti-student NIMBY instinct in State College runs deep

Pennsylvania has the 3rd most expensive state legislature in America. It spends 50 days a year in Harrisburg and the majority of the bills it actually passes are to do things like rename post offices and bridges. In the meantime, it's defunding SEPTA for no discernible reason

With no prospect of a statewide solution to help fund the everyday operating expenses of #publictransportation systems - #SEPTA is proposing a fare increase that would affect all modes and methods of payment beginning in January: wwww.septa.org/news/proposed-…. #ISEPTAPHILLY #waytogo

BASED AF SANTA MONICA

“Watch out, Amsterdam”, declared Santa Monica Mayor Gleam Davis when she cut the ribbon on the newest addition to their growing cycling network: the concrete-curb-protected 17th Street bikeway, which features Southern California's first-ever protected "Dutch-style" intersections.

New UCLA Lewis Center report on LA's housing element rezoning program (CHIPs) illustrates urgent need for legislative oversight + clarification of housing-element law. L.A. is on the wrong track, headed for a wreck. escholarship.org/uc/item/7xf2b3… 1/10

Heartbreaking that LA is falling short. Hopefully good governance & housing advocates like @AbundantHousing & @cayimby can work with @GVelasquez72 & @California_HCD to help make sure LA does its part in fighting our housing crisis. May be worth watching this, @Yimby_Law

One thing I will absolutely blame the Democrats for is not passing Romney's child allowance plan during their 2021-22 trifecta. It would've been monumental nymag.com/intelligencer/…

I recently spoke with someone who grew up in the Bronx in the 1970s and said he would “never set foot back” in NYC because it’s “too dangerous.” This was the Bronx in the 1970s:

Wasn't New York City actually dangerous in the 1970s? Like however you feel about being near homeless people, the city is definitely orders of magnitude safer than it's probably ever been, right?
