How do children demonstrate their thinking during uninterrupted play?
What if preschool teachers stopped setting up invitations / provocations in indoor and outdoor spaces. The children can learn to choose materials from where they are stored. It works in the preschools in Anji county.
The way you see your child is the way they will learn to be. It's about the image you have of your child at home or as a teacher at school.
Outdoor learning with the 4-year-olds from Ascot international School Bangkok. After telling a story about the history of writing, I invited the children to write their name and draw a little picture. They were all very interested in the texture of the clay.
"Direct teaching of vocabulary is not as efficient as acquiring vocabulary via listening to stories, and the effect of direct instruction...fades more with time. The time dedicated to skill-bldg would have been better spent listening to stories & reading": is.gd/tml6FW

The past 3 weeks in my class 🧵 Yesterday, shared a piece of writing that was produced following 3 weeks of play. Our school engaged with @DycePrimary planning structure using the four contexts to embark on an expedition to explore ‘Our City, Our Seas, Our Hills’
Children want time. Children want space. Children want love. Children want challenges. Children want to play with other children.
Transdisciplinary learning is natural for young children when they are given time and space to play. It is like Malagguzi's 100 languages of children. Unfortunately many schools focus on individual subjects, which take away possibilities for transdisciplinary learning.
