One of the saddest reactions to the US elections is from liberal young women vowing to stop having indiscriminate sex with men since they can't get abortions. They see it as a loss of freedom. Hopefully in their abstinence, they will discover their own dignity.

Proof that God is real. You get 100 words max.

At 4:40 - 2023 was another year of discovery in the scientific community. Much of the discussion focused on the continued rise of AI and the wild popularity of chatbots like ChatGPT. @stacytrasancos joins us with a review of this story and more.

There cannot be many Unmoved First Movers, only one. Aquinas explains why even in the short summary in the Summa. To say there can be many firsts leads to strange conclusions. stacytrasancos.substack.com/p/does-aquinas…

Studying Thomistic philosophy, I keep coming across mischaracterizations of science from modern Catholic philosophers. For example: 1) Laws do not explain; they describe. 2) Yes, we still seek causes and effects. 3) Yes, we still value pure science.

The fact that "Scientific Dissent" is capitalized suggests this is less about science and more about a theology that anthropomorphizes God as a tinkerer.

Over 1000 doctoral scientists from around the world have signed a statement publicly expressing their skepticism about the contemporary theory of Darwinian evolution. There Is Scientific Dissent From Darwinism. It deserves to be heard.

Why is a #Catholic hospital asking patients (including kids) to enter legal sex, gender identity, sex assigned at birth, and sexual orientation? Everyone talks about confusion and #FiduciaSupplicans in Rome while ignoring medical facilities at home. christushealth.org/connect/mission

21 years ago this mathematician and chemist were wed on 01-02-03. We figured it was a good way to start our life together. Our guests didn't know that we secretly went to the courthouse two weeks earlier and said our vows to a judge (alongside Santa and his elf). My thinking…

Audio is out! As I say, I am unconvinced about the reports of Eucharistic miracles. It's not that I doubt God could work them. I find the scientific investigations inconclusive because 1) the methods are neither explained nor consistently applied, 2) data is not shared, and 3)…

Graham Oppy, in Atheism: The Basics, argues that atheist and theist beliefs both explain the same data, but the atheistic worldview requires fewer commitments to do so in that it does not require the additional belief in gods. Thus, adopting atheistic beliefs, according to Oppy,…

I wince when Christian organizations say, “Give the gift of faith this year!” to get you to buy their stuff. That's not how faith works. You don't buy it for someone.

I've started a new Substack. The title is "Engaging Atheism." This is a project to consider what atheists find problematic in the arguments for God's existence. The first thing I learned is that we don't define atheism the same way. stacytrasancos.substack.com/p/what-is-athe…

Um, why are people protesting in D.C.? This is now a state issue.

Here's a current crowd shot outside Supreme Court, after people at abortion rights rally near Union Station marched over This rivals and may surpass size of crowds at 2020 anti-police brutality protests near White House

Why is Planned Parenthood mad? Abortion is only "3%" of their business.
