Looking forward to chatting about Give Up Worry For Lent on the Busted Halo Show!

It can be easy to fall victim to worry, especially during #Lent. What if we accidentally eat meat on Friday or “fail” our Lenten sacrifice? On tonight's show, #Catholic speaker @gary_zimak will join Father Dave to discuss giving up worry & finding peace this Lent.(@avemariapress)

And he kept trying to see him. (Luke 9:9) King Herod eventually got his wish and was able to see Jesus. I suggest you follow the king's lead and seek the Lord. When you do encounter Him, however, don't waste the opportunity like Herod did!

If for this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are the most pitiable people of all. (1 Corinthians 15:9) "Jesus, I need this, I need that. Don't let this happen, please let that happen, etc." - It's so easy to forget to pray for eternal things, isn't it? Thanks, Paul!

Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered. (Hebrews 5:8) / Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. (John 19:25) Nothing helps us to grow in obedience to God's Will like suffering!

We weren't redeemed by the Cross, we weren't even redeemed by Jesus suffering and dying on the Cross. We were redeemed because Jesus FREELY CHOSE to surrender Himself to the Will of His Father and suffer and die on the Cross for our sins. It was all in the will. Thank you, Jesus!

How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove that splinter in your eye,’ when you do not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye? (Lk 6:42) I drive my body and train it, for fear that, after having preached to others, I myself should be disqualified. (1 Cor 9:27)

"Ha! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!" (Luke 4:34) - Even the demons know Jesus is real and acknowledge Him as the "Holy One of God". What they DON'T do is accept Him as their Lord and Savior!

My message and my proclamation were not with persuasive (words of) wisdom, but with a demonstration of spirit and power, so that your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God. (1 Cor 2:4-5) - Let the Holy Spirit work through your imperfect words!

What is too sublime for you, do not seek; do not reach into things that are hidden from you. (Sirach 3:21) Looking for peace? Here’s the answer. It’s not always easy for a “control freak” like me, but it really does work. #LetGodBeGod

The "peace of God, which transcends all understanding" (Phil 4:7) often doesn't FEEL peaceful. That's ok. It's not supposed to. That's why it "transcends all understanding". God's peace is often a subtle belief that He's bigger than our problem and that it will somehow work out!

But he did not say a word in answer to her. (Mt 15:23) - Refusing to give up, the Canaanite woman begged and begged again until her request was granted. It was a carefully designed plan to help her grow in faith. Don’t stop praying for what you need!

During the fourth watch of the night, He came toward them, walking on the sea. (Mt 14:25) - As the Apostles battled yet another storm at sea, Jesus didn't show up until just before dawn. He often waits until the darkest hour to make His presence known. Don't lose hope!

But they said to him, “Five loaves and two fish are all we have here.” (Matthew 14:17) - I can't tell you how many times I've felt the same way. Repeatedly, however, Jesus has managed to take my insufficient efforts and get the job done. #2Cor12:10

Think of what is above, not of what is on earth. (Col 3:2) - We may not have control of what happens to us, but we have control over our thoughts. It takes effort, but it’s the only way we’ll ever find peace. This is a daily battle for me, but one that is worth fighting!
