CSB is thrilled to announce that Olivia Appleby has been successful in her application to joint the RASSO panel. Olivia is already a Grade 3 prosecutor. Criminal clerks: crime@cornwallstreet.co.uk cornwallstreet.co.uk/olivia-appleby… #crime #law #prosecutor #barristers #solicitors #cilex

Just in case anyone was wondering, my Thursday has included waiting for the conference host to join, and a raven flying around the ground floor of my house.

Right. I don’t want to hear criminal practitioners talking about “Sunday homework club” anymore. You are now working 6 day working weeks as standard, not a student with an essay crisis. It’s unsustainable long term and undermining the gravity of the situation.

What are the great chambers derbies?

“Quick question…”

I am a Solicitor and I practise Employment Law but to stop family and friend asking for free legal advice I tell them I practise Environmental Law.

I’m a criminal barrister. That means that I prosecute when I’m instructed to prosecute. And defend when I’m instructed to defend. I don’t only act for people I like. Or in whose cause I “believe”. My personal view on what somebody is accused of plays no part in my job.

One minute you’re young and cool, next minute you’re convincing your friend not to decorate pink panther biscuits for a children’s birthday party.

At some Crown Courts in the Midlands, Court staff are declining to sign counsel into cases & saying that counsel need to do it, via Common Platform. I’m hearing horrors of CP not permitting signing in or crashing and/or inordinate delays in so doing. Is this common elsewhere?

Why do Dominos not make larger garlic pizza bread?

It is just wrong, as the MoJ did this week, to blame criminal advocates for the backlog and delays. Without us and our clerks doing double, sometimes treble even quintuple case loads a day, the whole system would grind to a halt. Just watch if we all did just one a day.

Miss you and your weather warnings. ❄️

Fuck the snow

You know you’re back to full court strength when you get handed one of these in the robing room. If you know, you know.
