CME WATCH - 2024.11.09: Some continuous data to work with at last! We have a narrow but bright CME off the NNE limb which is followed by a rapid classic bubble CME off the SE limb associated with the bright coronal streamer lurking there. We had 7 C flares and 1 M flare today.

A Filament about to Erupt: the long, dark filament in the SE looks as though it may erupt soon. There are disturbances propagating along it and it seems to be getting broader and higher. If it erupts it will produce a CME but will it also produce a significant flare?

It took several days to count every ballot in 2020, and it’s very likely we won’t know the outcome tonight either. So please keep a few things in mind as you make your voice heard today: – Thousands of election workers around the country are working hard today. Respect them.…

When to look up in November ✨ Look out for Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars in the night sky throughout the month. If you live in the eastern half of the U.S. or Canada, you might be able to see a stellar lunar event—an occultation—when the Moon hides a bright star!

Lucky Shot! I manage to get this single frame from the Lasco C3 field of view. It shows a bright comet with an elongated trail moving toward the Sun. If I get more frames, I'll post a video.

CME WATCH - 2024.10.25: No report - both the C2 and C3 coronagraphs on SOHO are not supplying data. We did have 7 C flares and 1 M flare today. The sunspot number rose to about 170 with most of the sunspot groups concentrated in the S. hemisphere with 3-4 new spots in the north.

CME WATCH - 2024.10.20: Not a lot going on - just 3 small C flares today. There are a couple of classic modest "bubble" CMEs late in the movie (NE and SE limbs). Note the coronal streamer just eat of the southern pole - it may erupt soon.

FOUR M FLARES FROM THE SAME REGION IN A DAY - EACH LARGER THAN THE LAST - IS SOMETHING BUILDING? Unfortunately, we will be losing this region over the west limb in a day or two so if it is to produce an X flare it better hurry up! The flares were an M1, M5, M5 and M7 respectively

CME WATCH - 2024.09.27: here we have two major eruptions. Both were launched by the disintegration of a coronal helmet streamer - the first (which you saw yesterday was from the SW limb and the second from the SE limb. We only had 7 C flares today so still relatively quiet.

CME WATCH - 2024.09.07: Only 5 CMEs detected today. But the biggest was off the southern polar area in response to the unusually slow M flare earlier.

CME WATCH - 2024.09.05: Only 4 CMEs detected today. There was a halo event seen towards the end of the video. However, we did see 16 C flares and 6 M flares.

And there is the CME associated with the flare (see previous tweet) moving almost directly south so will most likely pass beneath the Earth is a day or two.

CME WATCH - 2024.08.26: At last! The coronal streamer in the southeast erupted as I have been predicting it would for several days. It was quite spectacular too. Overall, we had 12 CMEs, 10 C and 2 M flares today - every time I think the Sun is ready to quiet down, it doesn't.
