On 28.09.2017, I was admitted to a psychiatric hospital for the first time, hopeless and afraid of living. Fast forward 7 years, I spent the day bird watching with my dad on my childhood nature reserve, drinking hot chocolate and feeling so content. Recovery is always possible.

There aren't enough hotel rooms at the FIDE Olympiad and still no practical information for the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz. But at least FIDE makes sure the top players are roasted and humbled after unfortunate performances!🤣💪

Even if diluted?

“I lose money in this sport. I don’t gain money.” Eric Holt speaks out about the struggles of being an unsponsored track athlete He is the fifth-fastest American man in the 1500m this year. He just took the 2022 1500m world champion to the finish line at the NYC Grand Prix. No…

But but we can't give him what he wants.

Gunina recently was part of an event with Karjakin, and will play in his tournament in June. As long as FIDE chooses not to ban Karjakin, we will face such problematics. Solution is straightforward: ban Karjakin.

Emil will say that not doing so will only make him more relevant and hence we decided to be the moral arbiters of world politics and tried to be the good guys....

Dear FIDE: Why are you congratulating Karpov on his birthday? You removed his honorary status by decision of the FIDE Council, and he is an active supporter of Russia´s war against Ukraine. You deleted your tweet in 2022 and posted none in 2023. Why the change of policy?

The FIDE Circuit seems to aggrevate the situation rather than helping, as it encourages top players to play these opens, thus giving sub-top players less of a chance at the prizes

I think there's a troubling trend: Open tournaments are getting stronger, but conditions and prize funds are stagnant or declining. Makes me wonder how professionals are sustaining themselves in such an environment

Compared to last year, the financial conditions for chess players have worsened. Previously, some financial compensation was offered, but now even that is gone 2/4

Sharjah Masters starts today with a strong field, including world #7 Arjun Erigaisi. However, financial conditions and prize funds are dire. Even 2600-2699 GMs are sharing rooms, with no coverage for flights. 1/4
