A reminder that Elsevier has profit margins that outstrip those made by Apple, Google and Amazon. Revenue is reported at almost 3b, and profit margins ~40%. Yet we send them our work, for free. We peer review, for free, and editors collate it, for free or for a small stipend.

I created this prompt a few days ago for Optimizing your LinkedIn Profile. It’s for sale on a certain prompt site, but if anybody on the Tech TL needs it here you go. The prompt is in the Alt tags. Use your LinkedIn profile URL where the brackets are. Edit for more. @TechBaeAsh

Timed tests don’t measure what students know. They assess how students perform under stress. Data: tests under time pressure underestimate the abilities of girls—especially in math, where test anxiety is high. If students can't finish a test, make it shorter or give more time.

In today's class, Grad students like: “asking questions in an online class during a hurricane warning telling to get a shelter”.Ppl in academia has a serious problem prioritizing their health and lifes @AcademicChatter #AcademicMentalHealth #AcademicTwitter

This tweet reminded one day when my Texan English professor offered me to marry his son by promising me money and a green card. It's outrageous how people can be.

When I was 17, I went to the local immigrant grocery store to pick some things up for my mom on Christmas Eve. A 40-something yo man struck up a convo & asked me for my father’s number so he could call him & ask him for my hand in marriage. I was terrified 1/x

I am completely astounded by #ChatGPT's capabilities (chat.openai.com). I've been playing around with it to explore possible use cases for psychological research. Here are just a few: 1) Stimuli generation.

2 lessons learned aft done my 1st semester in a Master’s program in the U.S.@AcademicChatter @PhDVoice 1. Programs talk a lot about value DEI, but they do not prepare professors to create evaluations FREE from their own biases 2.U.S. PhDs do not prepare ppl to teach.

I asked the first author to share their paper because I don't have access to that journal. The answer was: “I will not share bcs the journal is not open access”. Will not the author get benefits if I cite them in my paper?! I'm in shock #phdchat #phdlife
