As someone who cares a lot about science communication, it's really difficult to translate scientific info to useful knowldge for the public. This thoughful piece uses some of the slip-ups of a well-known science comunicator to illustrate these issues. buff.ly/4abuQNX

This is also true in science. Labs should collaborate, not compete!

I believe in collaboration. It moves science forward. Call me naive but so far it’s been working very nicely.

Excellent postdoctoral training opportunity in a great team, professional environment, and wonderful location for the outdoors aficionados - the second part of the job posting is my favorite!

We are looking to hire a postdoctoral fellow interested in aging muscle and metabolism! Exciting scientific environment. DM if interested #myotwitter

We've known for a while that short sleep leads to earlier mortality. Now, we've found that irregular sleep is actually an even stronger predictor of mortality. Why? Probably circadian disruption. We may need a rethink on which dimensions of sleep matter the most for health.

Using objective measures of sleep in a cohort of >60,000 individuals the authors found people with more irregular sleep patterns have a higher risk of premature mortality & that sleep regularity is a stronger predictor of mortality risk than sleep duration ow.ly/LHWv50POsB9

I am quite honored by the award but the part that will stick with me is the faculty and Dean putting the nomination together w/o telling me anything. When I got the message from the AKA I had no idea what they were talking about at first 😂

Here's a @BraunBarry appreciation post for your TL 💚🐏💛 Join us in congratulating Dr. Braun, recipient of the @AmKinesAssoc Distinguished Leadership Award! 🏆👏 Learn more about the award and Braun's incredible leadership as @csuhes department head 🔗 col.st/NubZc

The chronobiology and sleep fields have lost a wonderful colleague and friend to many. Steve Brown died from injuries sustained in an accident on Wednesday. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, lab and colleagues. RIP.
