The coronavirus situation is a health crisis that seems to feel like someone else’s nightmare: being quarantined within a confined geography populated by sick, dying and possibly sick or dying people.

Trump Republicans love polices that feel like hashtags but never bother to dive deeper. “Shut the border” sounds great. But thousands of people legitimately cross the border every day. You can’t just shut the border without creating other problems.
Democrats: “we must allocate funding and prepare for climate change” Republicans: “don’t fund the nanny state, climate change is a hoax” - Hurricanes devastate red states - Republicans: “FEMA!!!!”
Vance was articulate and managed to disguise the traits that often repel moderates. Walz was not particularly polished or articulate. And while he never needed a disguise to make him more appealing to moderates, he was the only candidate on that stage that delivered a knockout.
