Great news from @EmersonCollege and @EmersonLions today as the school has announced they are going to officially name the basketball court after our Coach - Hank Smith this coming January...so appreciative of this honor for the person that had a profound affect on so many lives.
I’ve been getting pushback at coaching clinics when I say, “you can’t separate the skill from the decision”. Coaches clinging to linear progression: “drills” (for skills) -> live (once requisite skills are acquired). The skill is the decision which impacts how we teach.

Shooting tons of free throws in practice doesn’t always lead to game success. High practice percentages, like Dwight Howard’s 82%, don’t transfer because game-like variability is missing. Practicing with varied reps and conditions is they key to improving real-game performance.
