First peer-reviewed paper during my PhD journey: science.org/doi/full/10.11… Welcoming comments and feedbacks
Lior and I wrote a blog post about what it was like for me to find occurrences of duplicated (and seemingly manipulated) data as a first-year graduate student at @Caltech I am speaking openly because I believe that we, as the scientific community, can do better.
In a blog post, she tells the story of the reaction she received when she pointed this out to her (tenured) professor at the time, and to others. She was basically told not to waste her time: "a lot of the scientific literature has problems". liorpachter.wordpress.com/2024/07/02/the… 7/
Wow, @nature has retracted the 2020 Poore et al. cancer microbiome paper that we showed (journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/mb…) was deeply flawed. The retraction date is tomorrow so I can't yet read the official notice, but I'll update when I can @RetractionWatch @ProfBootyPhD
Happy to share a mini-review written by @nsalomonis and me briefly discussing diverse cancer immunotherapy and tumor antigens, highlighting the potential of RNA isoforms and the current challenges. liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/dn…
⚠️For PhDs who are thinking about jumping ship and diving into industry: Industry isn't necessarily better than academia. I have straddled both worlds. Here are 5 MYTHS about academia vs. industry:
The choice of whether to use Seurat or Scanpy for single-cell RNA-seq analysis typically comes down to a preference of R vs. Python. But do they produce the same results? In biorxiv.org/content/10.110… w/ @Josephmrich et al. we take a close look. The results are 👀 1/🧵
A Tour de force effort Congrats @XuanSeanZhang @annie_song_b, >400k human HSPC single cells, 266 well-titrated CITE-Seq Antibody, 80+ cell states, an invaluable hematopoiesis multi-modal atlas!
This is team science! 🤝 A big shoutout to @LeeGrimesLab, @Krauselab_Yale, @PittTweet (Singh lab) & @CraigTJordanLab Funded mostly by an RC2 grant from @NIH, @NIDDKgov, @ShilpaH75 Kudos to @BioLegend, @CytekBio & Curiox Biosystems for their support with prototype products! 3/3
In the past 6 months as a postdoc, I learned a lot on how to mentor people, I wrote a short blog reflecting on the mistakes I made and the lessons I learned link.medium.com/AKshCUYKTGb
