Anadarko's former lobbyist Chris Castilian and former spokeswoman Robin Olsen speak out in a post-Firestone investors' suit. Castilian says execs ignored safety problems. Olsen says a VP ordered her to "keep quiet" and "shovel shit" about them. coloradoindependent.com/170106/anadark… #copolitics

If these high winds can break windows, tear up roofs and topple tractor trailers, what might they be doing to the tens of thousands of oil & gas facilities scattered across the Front Range this afternoon?

Thousands of active oil and gas wells in Colorado produce very little oil and gas, but drillers keep them on for future profits.

The oil & gas well tied to the #FirestoneCO explosion wasn't a huge producer anymore, so why even turn it on? buff.ly/2EAZNvw

The risks found by this and many similar studies concern much more than just carcinogenesis. Benzene and other VOCs—just one category of o&g-related pollutants—are well-known causes of a very wide range of health problems, from coughing to anemia to repro/developmental effects

TLDR version of my story today: You have about a 30 to 40 percent chance of getting cancer at some point in your life. Living near oil/gas facilities might increase that chance by a sliver of a percent – something like 0.008 percent. tinyurl.com/yd69comd #mtnwestnews @KUNC
