The state told them they could vote. Then arrested them for it. You can help. We're working with @FLRightsRestore to raise bail funds and we need your support. Voting with government permission is #NotFraud. Donate here: bail.floridarrc.com/donate?src=dre…

There's no sugarcoating it: the defeat of Chesa Boudin in SF was a loss for criminal justice reform. But, as our @janosmarton writes in @inthesetimesmag, by learning the right lessons we can actually strengthen the movement to end mass incarceration. inthesetimes.com/article/crimin…

There's a lot you should be asked when applying for a job. But past convictions shouldn't be one of them. This "box" keeps millions from finding work. That's why this week, our #EmpathyNetwork leaders were in Arkansas to fight this question & help more people find reemployment

This is a big step in demanding dignity for incarcerated women, but we’re not there yet. We need your action to encourage Pennsylvania legislators to pass the bill. Sign our petition today: thedreamcorps.org/update/dignity… @ACUFforJustice and @ArdellasHouse

Democrats & Republicans agree: it's time to end the War on Drugs. Thousands are still in jail today b/c they were arrested with crack instead of powder cocaine. Today, our @janosmarton joined @SenSchumer & @USJusticeAction to call for a vote on the #EQUALAct to #EndtheDisparity

One way to reduce our prison population? Fix unjust sentences. This commission has an important role to play in setting guidelines for judges, and that's why it's so important that @POTUS has named public defenders & justice advocates like Judge Gleeson.

The Sentencing Commission, which can set federal sentencing guidelines, has been w/out a quorum for the whole Biden presidency. Given that the federal prison population has gone up under this admin (after going down under Obama & Trump), this is welcome, if overdue, news.

In America, one form of cocaine can land you behind bars for years, while the other form could get you a slap on the wrist. Sentencing equality is just a phone call away, and we need your help. Follow the link to help us pass the EQUAL Act/act today: bit.ly/3vuu1Ot

Yes! More public defenders on the bench! If we're going to fix the criminal justice system, what experiences would you like to see in the President's nominees?

President Joe Biden moved to further diversify the federal bench in terms of demographics and job experience with five new judicial nominees, including two women with backgrounds as public defenders selected as appellate judges @nateraymond reut.rs/3EPMSGS

So proud of our @amandahall33 for working w/ others like @KyPolicy to veto this bill - a bill we fought to pass. Why? B/c education is one of the best ways to keep people out of prison, but SB163 ended up excluding many of those who need this most. spectrumnews1.com/ky/louisville/…

Our prisons are still too full. But today, President Biden has made it easier for thousands of justice impacted individuals to have a second chance by increasing their access to education, job training, healthcare, and small business funding. #SecondChanceMonth

75 people will be reunited w/ their families thanks to President Biden's commutations today. But our prisons are still packed with thousands more who are serving unfair sentences. We need to pass the #EQUALAct to treat crack the same as cocaine and send ~8k more people back home!

The White House announced new policies Second Chance Month. Some thoughts... First, Biden issued 3 pardons & 72 commutations. While that's a tiny % of the open clemency applications, it's also more than any modern president has issued in his 2nd year. whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/…

How can second chance hiring meet workforce needs and help justice impacted individuals care for themselves, families, & communities? Join Dream Corps CEO @NishaMAnand & @DreamJustice's Amanda Hall as they discuss w/ @USChamber TODAY: events.uschamber.com/EOISecondChanc… #SecondChanceMonth

Empathy is how we turn criminal punishment into #CriminalJustice. That was the message from @RocNation's @reubenvincent_ at this year's National #DayOfEmpathy. Read why he's using his platform to shed light on the issues with #MassIncarceration. hot97.com/hip-hop-news/h…

As part of our 6th annual #DayOfEmpathy this year, we shared art created by incarcerated & justice-impacted individuals to highlight the humanity at the core of #CriminalJustice. Only through empathy can we go beyond just punishment to creating change progressive.org/op-eds/empathy…
